Just got one of these. One the PF website it states that you only need to connect the red and black wires. However it arrived and it has an extra wire - brown and blue. Can somebody shed some light on where this wire goes? I was expecting to only have to connect the red to positive and black to negative on the battery.

Why don't you just phone them tomorrow.
-
Blue and brown to pump red and black to battery

The pump and controller are already wired together. The PF website states you just need to connect red and black wires. My question was where does the single wire that is blue / brown go? Unless this wire became dislodged from the pump during transit?
Thought it would save me a phonecall ::)roll

Save yourself a phone call that costs a few pennies
OR
take random advise on here - wire it up wrong and fry £200 worth of kit
Take your choice
- it's impossible to give you accurate advice without photos - has a wire come loose - have they used the wrong colour wire - is there an extra wire to operate a solenoid etc

I would contact Ian Sheppard of Spring Europe.
Before you do this you will need the number and model of the controller.
That controller extra wire could be for an additional controller function - diesel heater frostat, float valve; etc
-
I bought a purefreedom controller a couple of months ago, only had four wires.
I would suggest you bought the controller with the “battery charging” function.
Ring them to be sure though.

Is your strainer upside down? Looks it to me.
-
Blue/brown to red/black on pump....black/red to battery.
-
See if your blue wire has come of black wire from pump

Its common practice for the filter bowl to be underneath. When unscrewing the bowl to clean it out, most of the water will be 'caught' in the bowl and then discarded. With it upside down you will either have to catch the water in a towel or it will wet the van.
Sometimes the pump is mounted so close to the floor of the van that installing the filter upside down is all you can do.
Having it upside down won't make any difference to its effectiveness; it just doesn't look right.

Hi Steve please see the wiring guide for the standard V16 Pump controller which will have 4 cables as already mentioned above. The Red and Black connect to the Battery ( Remember to fit a fuse between the battery and controller on the Red) The Brown and Blue connect to the Pump.
