Title: My power up 3d has just stopped working.
Post by: Richard Groves on May 11, 2021, 12:18:35 pm
Any ideas guys as to what I should look for ? Fuse looks ok. Sure I've read in the past people having issues with the switch ? PITA as I'm out working. Luckily I've the crank handle with me 🤬

Check the connection to the battery , try another fuse if you have one , only other thing is check the push button controller for a loose wire

Funny you say that, I’ve changed the switch and all is well.

Got another issue today though, the hose reel sounds like it’s rubbing/scoring somewhere. Literally just noticed it this afternoon. It’s not the hose.

WCW sending  me out a new switch FOC. Fair enough I just hope that's all that's wrong with it.

I have had one since release the switch broke on mine within a couple of months Waterworks replaced switch with the older HD style worked perfect since 👍  as Luck would have it I had installed a remote on mine so it still worked in the day it took to receive the new switch.

Its definately the switch. I removed it when I got home and touched the 2 wires together to check.
I should have asked for an old style hd replacement switch, think they're sending me a straight replacement for the 3D.
I'm gonna go look in the shed and see what I have in the way of switches that I can cobble together and get me out the sh!te tomorrow.

I always like to keep spares of everything as you never know if the company is gonna be out of stock 😞

True. And I do with most things especially as I've a DIY van mount system. I've never been caught short with something I've built myself and have been able to fix it usually same day.
Out of interest, those with DIY electric reels. What do you use for switch ? .... a winch/tail lift remote switch or something else ?
Den68 which/how did you set up a remote ?

Now it's failed once. I need a back up plan.

Neither waterworks site or WCW where I bought my 3D reel from list the switch unit as a spare. In fact current photos of the reel now show it with the older yellow switch unit from the HD.
I'll see what WCW sends me out but in meantime I've found the switch they use.
I've posted this incase it's of use to anyone else who wants to carry spares.

Water works have gone back to the yellow controller , we are long term testing the 3 d reels with the alloy center spindle with hot water for them and they all have the yellow controller, dies your reel have a silver centre spindle of alloy or grey plastic ??

Yeah I know about them going back to the yellow controllers as pics on their site have changed. I seem to remember reading on here someone saying all purchasers of 3D reels would be upgraded with new switches ? Mines a grey plastic spindle. I'm not a hot water user .

You can buy the original yellow switch that waterworks sell on eBay instead for about half the price

the problem with the plastic waterworks reels is they ve not been tested thoroughly or long enough before being brought to the market place..instead window cleaners are  paying a lot of money for a reel thats not fit for purpose yet....in the real world (day to day) their not up to the job in a lot of cases....

until they iron out the switch problems, leaks, the centre spindle being destroyed with hot water and the slow speed of them when reeling in,etc then i wont be buying one.....

The centre spindle is now aluminium for  hot water and now works fine we have had them on long term test for well over 6 months now they also have gone back to the yellow controllers and they are also fine with 6 of theses reels we haven’t had a single leak or any other problems they are a very good reel , and I also have the pure freedom twin stack stainless steel reels and the W W ones are almost as good  (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1620844967_78086E2A-0E5F-4D34-93A7-082896C8DAB9.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1620844966_E006430A-10AC-4DE0-8687-74C585AE76C1.jpeg)
