I seem to remember Alex saying his father was left handed and had no issue operating their smart clamps. My son is left-handed and he also has no issue operating the clamps of his Gardiner pole.

I’m left handed.
I don’t see how the levers are right-handed?

Me neither.

If anything, that looks left handed to me.

left handed people hold the bottom of the pole with their left hand and adjust the lever with their right hand meaning the lever is the wrong way around

Do you never swap round to even up the wear on your body? Working 100% of the time with left at bottom will be putting all the wear on one side of your body, best, if you can to swap sides every so often.

ideally a left hander would use their right thumb to open and close the lever ,instead of reaching around the bottom of the pole
and using the index finger which often gets pinched in the clamp
-
ok ive just been informed Facelift clamps can be left or right handed
-
Lefty here
Never thought the pole clamps were had to operate with the right hand - in fact I'd say I can operate the clamps better than most right handed people

if you are holding the pole in your left hand ,what other option do you have but to use your right hand to adjust the clamp
then , the lever would be better the other way aroundso you could use your thumb
-
I'm left handed, no problem at all.
I have all the clamps lined up on the top side of the pole.
Flick them open with right hand index finger, close them with your thumb. ::)roll
-
thanks robbo you have just proved my point , if the lever was the other way around which it is on my ionics poles you would only need to use your thumb
-
I'm sure with the clamps on top when you go to undo a clap your right hand is under the pole flick your thumb up and the clamp pops open - extend or retract use thumb to close

Does it really matter if you only use your thumb, rather than index finger and thumb?

How you poor leftie buggers can get by in day to day life is beyond me.

It is a struggle, but we do our best! ;D

I vary between left and right handed and doesn't make much difference, good to swap sides and balance things out

I'd like to master that technique, how long did it take before you felt 'comfortable'?

Hi Bin Juice
Here is a link to a video that is showing how lateral clamps can be operated by left and right handed users - excuse the fact it is a very old video and shows previous generation clamp levers :D - https://youtu.be/9HrWB10hDjk
The 'left-hander' in the video is my Dad who has operated clamps like this ever since we released lateral clamps.

I was totally paralysed and needed 24/7 care for everything back in 2002, told my days of working, walking, etc were over but I proved all the medical professionals wrong through sheer ignorance and determination to get on with life or call it a day. Learnt to write left and right handed at the same time, did everything left and right handed trying to build my strength up from nothing so it made sense to balance everything equally.

Lefty’s are either good at sport or terrible no in between with a lefty 🤣🤣 the pole imo comes setup for a right hander, the majority of right handed people lead with the left hand and the clamps are far easier to adjust this way with some of the older poles you could just turn the clamps round in the days before the slightly rounded shim on one side only.
-
only wanted to know what poles you can turn the clamp levers around
-
Turn the pole around 180 degrees for left handed polers and then turn the gooseneck 180 problem solved ;D
-
I use either hand usually do the tops one way bottoms the other when and if I’m concentrating 🤣🤣 dunno how the clamps can be one handed I flick open with the nail side of my thumb when doing them as a leftie then shut with thumb I’d say they close better with a right handed thumb as your coming over them

i think i might be a little misunderstood here its never really bothered me using the clamps ,but at 55 and 16 years wfp ive started to get a pain on the top of my right hand only when im using the clamps and sometimes with a squeegee . my day to day pole is a slx25 . and was just thinking if i upgraded to a 22 hi mod if i had the option to change the lever round it might ease the pain on my hand , but maybee the pole is just to heavy and putting strain on my wrists and hands

A bit of info at the beginning would have been helpful!
I'm 56, nearly 57. Upgrade to an Extreme 22 and use the xtreme sill brushes. You will notice the difference by a mile.
Forget clamps.
