Hello All,
I'm currently looking at various wfp system with a view to buy in the near future.
My main reason for this is i'd like to start doing more commercial work.
My question to you is this. If i'm only doing the cleans on a quarterly basis or sometimes even further apart, would it make a lot of difference if i had a hot water system.
Have any of you experienced both as a w/c, and what are the results like.
Regards,
Sunshine

I wouldnt go investing hard earned money into some work that you may or may not have whether hot or cold systems. Most of the commercial work is already serviced. I see so many buying systems with the expectation of commercial work but the only way you will get into it is to reduce the price, So you may end up earning less than you do now.
Now if you think hot systems will improve your work rate and speed up your current work thats a different thing.
I would do a feasability study to find out if the propsed new work exists. Otherwise why not just convert your current work to wfp.

I will be converting my domestic round to wfp once i have the system in place. One of the main reasons for me getting a system is that i'm quite slow traditionally so i'm hoping this will speed me up considerably.
I shouldn't have too much trouble picking up commercial work. I have a few contacts who can put some business my way.
I just want to make sure that a cold water system is going to do just as good a clean when the jobs are between 3-6 months apart.

Never had a hot system but do clean 6 monthly and annuals with cold water wfp and charge for it. But dont think there would be enough left over to buy a hot system unless you have seen Omni hot.

So it does take longer with a cold water system on longer interval cleans but you just charge a premium rate for it.
Think i'll be buying a cold water system anyway but just wanted to check it still did the business on stubborn ground in dirt.
Thanks for your input Jeff.

Hi Sunshine,
To be honest, I have yet to be convinced why I should invest in a hot water system through cleaning. I admit I can see the benefits for the winter with freezing but having said that it is still alot of money.
All my vans use cold water and through the winter we instal water heaters to avoid freezing.
As for cleaning windows, it is fine with cold water.
I would look around and do some homework before buying, there are a lot of good sytem options available.
Best of luck,
Trev

Hot water systems make a hell of a difference compared to cold systems. It is so much faster and cleans very stubborn marks effortlessly in comparison. Initial cleans are a doddle too. I have fitted a 75litre 'calorifier tank' prior to my tank so all my water is heated indirectly from the engine. It's free heat being wasted so I use it. I will be connecting this up to a solar water panel which I bought off of ebay to also heat my water (it's a great supply of free heat) just the one off initial cost of £100 for the unit. You can also use solar panels to trickle charge batteries. Ideal for keeping your drinks cold in the summer by means of a small fridge.

A WPF clearner I kmow has a hot system and he thinks its a waste of time, especially in winter when the water leaves the van hot but reaches the glass cool.

Not much difference hot or cold and as for cleans being further apart ..... once they have been cleaned with a wfp if you go back 6 months later they will still clean better and come up great because they have been cleaned with it before..

Hi easy clean I would have given you a link on battery charging with solar panels, I think were banned from giving links, but I think you might know the site I'm on about. not much help though is it. ;D
