As title, a proposed tax in Greater London for all vehicles.

As I understand it if you drive into a London borough you will pay £3.50 minimum and up to £5.50

Depending on how new your van or car is
This is not including the ulez taxes also
If you drive into these ultra low emissions zones

Believe this is because London mayor needs more money in the tfl pot

I suppose if you live and work in Greater London and this proposal goes through
Then it will have to be factored into custards
 Clean price 🤦♂️

				How is it enforced?

Some of my work is in the zone. Don't want to get a fine/penalty notice or something.

You have to get on the website and pay it in advance using your registration number. That's what we had to do when we entered the emission zone. I understand it  becomes a major issue if you enter without paying. They have number plate recognition cameras installed.
My son has an 02 plate Citroen Berlingo hdi and it cost him £25 to enter into the emission zone last September.

Can you check whether you have entered?

We knew we were going into the zone so we just paid it in advance of our arrival. I honestly didn't see any cameras but that doesn't mean anything. We were too busy trying to find where we were going.

As far as I'm concerned if the law says you must pay a fee to get into the emission zone then we pay it. Its like road fund licence. We pay it every year with a valid MOT and insurance.
There are some who try to dodge paying and try to get away with it but sooner or later they get caught.

We have a DVLA van that sits in a lay-by on one of the main routes. Everyone knows where he parks so a small detour will ensure he doesn't catch people. But then sometimes he moves into a side street. We have also seen a mobile unit driving around our estate looking for untaxed vehicles parked on the road.

At the moment Ultra low emissions zone is central London as congestion charge and signs everywhere going into central London

Ulez is expanding October this year parts of north and south circular not sure of exact boundaries

If the Greater London borough tax got the go ahead I read 2022 time to stick up more cameras

Give it a few years and it will be the norm. in most cities and large towns.
That's why I got a petrol ULEZ compliant van.

my golf 8 GTD is the cleanest, fastest diesel golf that VW have ever made....it has twin dosing adblue spraying into the exhaust emissions to cut the pollutants down to nearly zero.....would i still have to pay the charge as its still a diesel vehicle?

Yes and yes all diesels have to pay extra  the zone is the two major circular routes across London the con zone is in the middle the mayor will extend it to all London boroughs which is just short of the m25
If you drive an old van it’s 150 fine if it’s legal you pay %25extra for diesel and 25 % as well about 13£ per hour in central London
Plus congestion charge 13 or so.
 Then you do your job
Can’t believe that every city or town will not follow this cash cow the gaps in between will be charged per mile via your sat nav they said it would take in surge payments depending on when you drive  parking permits here want to know what your car is so it’s charged accordingly to it’s co even though it emits none when it’s parked
Give up now Greta thin berg has won

Then they will all be scratching their heads in confusion when the centre of all these cities just become ghost towns.

 Definition of a ghost town from Wikipedia;

A ghost town or alternatively deserted city or abandoned city is an abandoned village, town, or city, usually one that contains substantial visible remaining buildings and infrastructure such as roads. A town often becomes a ghost town because the economic activity that supported it (usually industrial or agricultural) has failed, or due to natural or human-caused disasters such as floods, prolonged droughts, government actions, uncontrolled lawlessness, war, pollution, or nuclear disasters. The term can sometimes refer to cities, towns, and neighbourhoods that are still populated, but significantly less so than in past years; for example, those affected by high levels of unemployment and dereliction.

				Hello Granny and Daz

 The ultra low emissions zone
 No not for your vechicles

Daz I don’t believe you have that where you live 🤔

But heard news that other cities in U.K. are interested in these ideas

 The Greater London charge
I believe is for all vehicles 🚗 just the older your motor is the more you 💰 pay

It’s a toll tax for driving  from one borough to the next 🤦♂️

my golf is virtually as clean as an electric vehicle...i dont think ill have to pay a penny in charges mate

In their proposals to the government, TfL say the charge would be set at £3.50 a day, except for vehicles that breach ULEZ air quality standards, which would be charged £5.50 a day. The charge would be levied on the owners of vehicles registered outside the capital when they drove into the Greater London area. TfL’s submission to the government also says it would be at least two years – October 2023 – before any Boundary Charge could be introduced. The current financial settlement with the government expires at the end of March and TfL would like it agreed by its next board meeting on 16 March. Like other local authority bodies, it has a budget to set.

 Ford Transit Courier
 1 litre 99 BHP
I don't think it would suit many window cleaners but we only use a 250 litre tank!
