Can I do this or do I have to have a split charge relay. I mean remove the leisure battery in the back and just wire pump controller and reel all to van battery
-
of course you can
the risk is flattening your van battery and being broken-down miles from home/anywhere

Leaving the engine running whilst working is illegal and would invalidate your insurance should anything happen , it wouldn’t cost to much to add a battery and split charger but you will need to do a fair few miles to keep the battery charged up well

...... and if Mr Plod happens to see an unattended vehicle in the street with the engine running, that's a fine if they could be asked.

Every 2 days I get down to 12.3. Then I charge. Takes about 3 hours to bench charge
