Hi Guys, Just been reading a subject on pressure washing on the forum so thought i would ask on here.
I have a Honda GX 390 pressure washer, its been a decent machine. Just asking if the "pressure regulator" needs to be altered at any point? its fully turned to the right i think, and after doing my first job of the year with it today, i thought "am i getting the full power out of this machine or do i need to adjust anything ie "the pressure regulator".
I assuming the fact that its turned fully to the right means its offering full power/pressure! any help appreciated.

Yep, fully wound in = max pressure.
Unload it, or ‘loosen’ it, and the pressure will be reduced 👍🏼

Depends on what unloader you have - if its a k series then there's not really much adjustment
if its a a vrt3 ( my fav type ) then all the way down (clockwise) is max pressure but be warned the unloader can/will overpressure the p/w so ideally you need to add a pressure gauge
All unloaders wear out - the spring goes soft and higher pressures can not be reached - over 8 years ive had about 5 go - you start to notice it takes longer to clean heavily soiled drives - or the kick when squeezing the trigger is mild to how it used to be - its a wearing part and easy to replace

Always worth taking the spring out and giving it all a good clean aroind the bullet every now and then. I’ve found grit can cause the spring to stick over the years...

mine are van mounted - well away from the cr@p they just wear out - but its a good shout if your machine is mobile and gets covered while working away

It’s more from grit being in the water butt or wheelie bin, makes its way into the pump and and can cause sticking springs etc!

Thanks Guys, I will have a look over the weekend as to which type of valve it is. Im assuming its easy enough to take off
and replace/clean the spring etc.
