Title: Gocardless- help
Post by: lee_dewing on February 28, 2021, 11:34:13 am
Hello going to send gocardless mandate to 1st customer

Question: customer fills in mandate do they have to verify payment for 1st clean?

Then automatically payment is taken
When I request it after that?

It’s a £20 job so 40p to gocardless?

I’m all registered with go cardless etc
Just saving gocardless for the pain customers
I have to send payment reminders too

Customers I’m going to bin 🗑 if they don’t take up gocardless

Thanks lee

Dont think they have to verify it but not too sure.

Only time ive had problems with verification is when there is 2 names on their bank account.

As for fees i cant remember what it is, i know its plus VAT now.

So not much help but it's a reply  ;)

No they don’t have to verify they just sign up you for the rest.
So if they are £10 but owe you for twice you can collect the first payment as £20 then the rest as £10.

GoCardless is great the fees are well worth it

I agree, once you are in you are locked in to whatever rises they see fit. For a small business its not worth it, i can totally see why a multi van operation would want it though..

I agree with this. A £20 Job will take 48 pence in fees (which includes the VAT) I just checked. For ease of payment I think it’s well worth it as it stands but not to say fees won’t go up then I may well have a different outlook.

Any new jobs I pick up now I always quote say what would be a £20 job at £21. So you would still clear £20 and some change. Fantastic for slow payers (a must in my book) but still have a large percentage paying via BACS but I don’t mind that as these ones pay promptly.

I think I’ve got a really healthy customer base now in terms of payments. Very little is owed which suits me to the ground.

If you're not tied to gocardless through cleaner planner or whatever it might be worth looking at smart debit.

I'm 1/2 the price of gocardless's cheaper tier and have the equivalent of gocardless's more expensive tier.

Soupy, does smart debit link up with your planner marking off debts like Gocardless?
