Title: Those with electric hose reels

I am um Thinking about getting electric hose reels for the vans. I have read on here on the hose reel threads that people will physically charge the leisure batteries. We've never done this all charge has been via split charge relay or battery to battery chargers depending on the van, the battery never comes out. Due to the extra drain on the leisure battery will I have to change my methods?

If you are cold even if you wired through to the vehicle I wouldn’t think you’d have a problem they only draw for 30 seconds at a time.

Oh yes that's a good point could wire it's through to the van battery and leave the leisure battery for the pump alone

Have you got underfloor rollers on yours or straight out the door?

No I just roll straight out from the van no need for under rollers for me,I would get a auto electrician to for a split charger for you they’ll come to you’re house cheap enough all done then.

Mines wired to 12v accessory  outlet in back of van, therefore straight off the van battery. 
It's been  in 18 months with no problems.

I know people that’s all they’ve ever done depends if you are doing a lot of short sharp jobs,always a good idea to have a spare van Battery on board for when it gets old.

Been using electric reels for a good 7-8 years now and never had to charge my leisure battery up at all pal, just the split relay doing its thing.
They don’t eat that much extra power really!

Im always surprised when people get away with split relays, with an electric reel and pump i couldnt rely on just a  split relay. I bench charge every day or every other day at least.

Split relay and smart charger does the job fine for my reel.

Leisure battery and split charge relay for me also, I’ve never bench charged a battery from the van

Leisure battery and split charge relay for me also running 2 reels, when both out 100 mt start to slow down so start the van to speed up the return..
