Title: cheapest is not always the best
Post by: Jay Le Huray on January 31, 2021, 11:36:08 am
About 8 months ago a customer who I had for about a year said to me, "we would like to cancel our services with you as we have had a quote for £4 less than you, unless of course you can price match"

To which I replied "sorry but no can do I refuse to get into a price war"

My price was £16 and her new cleaner was now going to charge her £12.

Anyway, last week as I was doing next door she approaches me and ask me if I could take her back on. I asked her what happened to her new cleaners and she explained that twice they had put a bill in her door but they did not clean her windows.

She described them as "Cheating, dishonest scum"

I took her back on and also explained to her that my prices have now gone up by £2 and it will now cost £18 to which she gladly accepted, no doubt in time she will swap again to another cheaper quote or perhaps she may have learnt her lesson and stick with a cleaner who is more trustworthy.

I had a customer like this
£18 job guy offered to do it for £12 couple of months later she approached and I did the same as you but with £4 increase
Then 6 months later she did it again
After a few months she calls me on a Friday and says
"What are the chances of you doing my windows by Wednesday?"

My reply was "Not good"  ;D ;D

I'll take people back on once if it suits me but not twice

Ive had customers like this, some of them do learn their lesson. Ive had bad paying customers that ive dropped turn into the best paying customers after an apology asking to come back. Some people just dont realise how much of a pain they are until told.

They don’t realise they  were getting a  good service until they ditch and then get a bad one more like.
