I’ve just had a representative for the Health & Safety Executive at my door, apparently they are doing spot checks on businesses to verify they are complying with government guidance to ensure that businesses are Covid secure. Any one else had a visit?

No, they came to my house. They are doing spot checks on all manner of businesses apparently.

The guy asked if I have continued to work, I told him I had and that I work on my own and outside in the open air. TBH after I told him this he only asked for my phone number, then he went back into his car to fill in some paperwork. As they are only working in partnership with the HSE I think it’s more of a box ticking exercise, of course there may be more questions asked for those working in an indoor environment.

Just done a wee bit more digging, the company the HSE have appointed to carry out the spot checks in this area are called Resolvecall Ltd, and they are a debt collection company😲. That will get the neighbours talking🤣🤣

Just sounds like a survey that. I'd of told him he is supposed to work from home if possible and he could of rang. If he knocked on mine he'd be on You Tube by now ;D

At 10:44 in the morning; why wasn't OP out grafting and why would someone come knocking your door asking questions about your social distancing etc when you would be expected to be out working? It doesn't add up. Either OP is on the wind up or the bloke knocking his door is suss.

Because OP doesn’t work in constant heavy rain. I was picked at random, I phoned HSE to ask if it was genuine and they confirmed it was. If you google Covid spot checks you will get the info on there.

What is anyone going to gain by catching 1 small business they want to go out and look at how many old people that have just had the jab are now walking about without masks on,it’s turned into an over 70s spreading fest.

Once again your inability to read other posts on the subject matter has left you looking a bit foolish. As has already been stated in a few of the posts, it isn’t HSE staff who are carrying out the checks, it’s representatives working in partnership with the HSE. In my area it’s a debt collection company who have been appointed, which makes sense as otherwise they would probably be on furlough or even worse, without a job.

Knock on baby! Got two social distancing signs, social distancing hi viz , nitrile gloves and wear a face mask for all my work.
Covid statement as well.
Over the top? Probably but I’m 70, have a young son who I want as many years with as possible.
Also customers and passers by just stroll up all the time. It’s amazing how many people just ignore the guidelines.
I bet I’m in for a slating for this post butI have to work and if I catch Covid that’s it.

The drug dealers dead mate....died last year...loads of police turned up but apparently it was an overdose but he had enemies so they were just making sure he wasn't murdered.....

From this it appears they are checking premises to make sure they are compliant , we as window cleaners dont have a premiss we work outside most of the time , from job to job so don’t see why they would bother checking on us at home ?? This is a good point. I need to do a Covid Risk assessment. Thank you.
This disease could be with us for years to come if some experts are right. When we get older we take on a different mindset of self protection as the risks are that much higher.

No sceptical, sensibly cautious! I could make one of those documents easily. Not good proof of permission and purpose. But hey maybe I’m to expectant of a gold guilting certificate 😊

I had them ring me, not sure if same company but asking questions. Wanted to know if we worked together, travelled together, had gloves, sanitizer and masks, was they touching each others equipment etc, any symptoms etc..
