So my van has just died on me today. Been told not worth getting fixed and will cost more then what the van is worth. Thinking of getting a van on lease hire would these companies be ok with you putting a system in back of the van ? Or can that be a problem only looking for like a small van like a Citroen berlingo
Thanks

I remember test driving a dispatch years ago the salesman told me it’s a 3 seater 🤣🤣,3 seater I don’t think so the word sardines comes to mind.
When I change to another transporter I’m gonna change the bench seat for another single seat,it takes 2 in the front yes but you wouldn’t want to have to go to far as a bolt upright passenger,as for the smaller vans I’ve not seen a proper 3 seater they are all far to small.

That's good to know. Are all dual passenger van seats fixed fairly upright? I need a good passenger seat but an occasional 3rd seat. Any ideas?
-
Yeah they are m8 my transporter the space is fine but it’s too upright when my Mrs rides in it with me in the beginning she said blimey can I put the seat back lol,it’s even worse in the smaller vans because you have even less width with it being to upright.
Like I say next time I’ll make sure it has 2 what they call captains chairs.
-
I can recommend the Berlingo. Had a few of them now, great little van and takes a 450 tank nicely. Seats are fine for a couple of young ‘uns, bit tight if 3 adults in the front.
Mine are leased and I just take out the ply lining and replace it to cover any holes when the van goes back. Not had a problem with this method so far.
-
Yeah need a 3 seater just for when pick the 2 kids up from school. Have asked around a few local garages to take system out but won’t do it. I wonder if this is because i have split charger just seems that garage won’t help me lol. Can anyone recommend anywhere that would take a system out and put it in a new van. I can’t do it ant got a clue been window cleaning 14 years but when comes to stuff like that i ant got a clue

My connect L2 240 has 3 seats in the front cab.....the middle seat is small but it's ok for the occasional short journey.....
-
Yeah as Daz says the occasional short journey all vans albeit a so called 3 seater some are more of a 3 seater than others, like I said years ago I test drove a dispatch it was laughable it felt like all 3 off us were driving lol.
If you need a 3 seater and you need 3 seats often I wouldn’t go for a smaller van,if my bench seat reclined it would be fine for 2 passengers but they’d still be bolt upright almost.
-
The one the Trotters had was nice.

Ooh, three seater :-[.
What about something like The Goodies used?

I think you are confusing a dispatch for a berlingo/partner. The dispatch is near enough the same size as your transporter. I've had 2 dispatches and the dual passenger seat is comfortable for 2 people.
Unless you are talking about the MKI dispatch, then your comments are outdated.

Are the seats heated?
-
The amal 3 seater are barely 3 seats. And the Berlingos drive like there going to fall apart... And then they do 😂
-
Makes me laugh when I hear people say something along the lines of a Berlingo is anything like a 3 seater,it’s like saying an Audi TT has 4 seats maybe it has but you wouldn’t want to sit in the back.

You base this statement on what?

Utter nonsense as usual.
You’ll be out buying a Berlingo to go with your ova 8 pole next.

I won’t m8 I don’t know anything about Ova poles but I know enough about those little bricklayers vans, that’s about all the room they have enough for a bucket and a trowel and maybe 1 bag of cement.
-
I’ve had almost every pole Gardiner’s are the best I’ve had a smaller van and a transporter if you had the experience of both you wouldn’t be,recommending a van like a berlingo for someone looking for 3 seats or someone that was thinking of going WFP is ridiculous.
Unless you are thinking of doing a bit of gardening and you need 3 seats get a decent medium or larger van.

;D that was funny for you

Yeah makes me laugh you’ll be going out and buying a berlingo next 🤣🤣 yeah right oh,I thought I might be missing something with the Ova pole but if I wanted a van to deliver croissants in I’d buy a berlingo. 💩💩

What sort of fuel consumption do you get?

I have two Ranger Super Cabs.
My first one is a MK2 IDI with 107 bhp that seems to manage around 24 mpg with half a tonne up.
This one is a MK3 tdci with 141 bhp and I've only owned it a few weeks. Just about to finish the first tank and it's looking to be around 30 mpg.

Cheers. So you have 400 to 500 lts tank , pump, reel and pole etc in the back? All fits OK? What pole (so I can gauge length)? Interesting. Real world 30mpg isn't bad at all really.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Pretty much, yes.
400 litre, pump, agm battery, small di unit and an SLX-22.
The 22 fits perfectly into the bed.
Longer poles will sit diagonally across the tank or clip to the ladder rack.
Unfortunately my new truck had the ladder rack removed.
If you buy a later Ranger Super Cab, post 2011 you get a genuine six foot load bed into which any pole should fit.
You should, in theory, get better mpg too but they're Ford built and lack the reliability of the older Mazda built trucks.

Merc Citan 5 seater. Back seats fold down in a 2/1 split

My connect L2 240 has 3 seats in the front cab.....the middle seat is small but it's ok for the occasional short journey.....
we have a connect L2 240, there is no way you can get 3 adults in the front fronts, even a big struggle to get two children on the dual seat.
we also have transporter and that is a struggle to get two adults on the dual seat.
Best option if you want a proper three seater is a Crafter, but not the early ones as they are Mercedes Sprinter and they rot..terrible metal and paint
-
Forget the cup holder in the transporter with 2 passengers I wouldn’t want to be in the middle in an accident, say a quick goodbye to your kneecaps.

ive had 3 adults in the front before now(me,stepdaughter and her boyfriend)he s only 5 ft 2in though.......it was a bit of a squeeze but doable for short journeys...yes he sat in the middle seat! ;D
-
Yeah bit of a squeeze lol c’mon non of em are 3 seaters really,as someone said you need to be in something like a grafter or the bigger Ford with the high roof to get a half comfortable ride over any distance.

Claiming the connect has 3 useable front seats is the same as securing the tank in the back with blu-tac
Even for a short journey
