I'm looking for a pole that will reach 3rd storey windows comfortably so 22ft should be enough right? Someone told me that 22ft is not enough and I need to go a 25ft pole. obviously it will be more expensive and heavier. I also need to make sure it will fit into the back of my peugeot partner van
-
I think you mean 2nd floor ? As in ground, 1st, 2nd? A 25’ slx works for us on modern houses. Would be a stretch on Victorian though.
Collapsed length is on the Gardiners’s website I think.

25ft but depends if your a giant like dazmond

25 ft minimum for 2nd floors. Nothing worse than having splashed out only to find your 3 ft short on some of your jobs. Better to have too much and not need it all. I use a 25 and have 4 base sections of an old 50 ft that I add when I need higher. All fits in my Berlingo albeit the 25 goes in a waste pipe through the bulkhead and over/above passengers seat.

In my experience i found the 22 and the 25 cover most things its just with the 22 on some houses you will be at full stretch where the 25 is more comfortable.
But then the 25 is longer, more cumbersome in tight areas and heavier.
Difficult decision!

I use the top 4 sections of an extreme 25 (so a 20 but no heaviest section) for most of my everyday work.
I then add the 5th section as needed.

Be aware that the:
SLX 22 is 1270gms 1.49m collapsed
SLX25 is 1420gms 1.72m collapsed
SLX27 is 1670gms 1.56m collapsed
So the SLX27 is 250gms heavier than SLX25 but 16cm shorter collapsed length - only 7cm longer than a SLX22!!!

Maybe it's just the sort of properties that make up my round ; Victorian terraced fronts with shallow front gardens usually full of shrubs, ornaments, pots etc. I clean the first floors at least from the street, thats 25 ft at full length, gets a good angle and weight to scrub well and saves my neck and shoulders. I see guys all the time craning their necks virtually under windows in order to reach them. You always need a bit in reserve to be able to clean comfortably. An Slx 25 is already a light pole, is the difference between that and a 22 really that noticeable to be worth the weight saving vs reach anxiety ?
-
I carry slx22 and slx30. The 22 gets used for most work.
I used to just carry slx25 but found the 22 was easier to use and reached vast majority of my work. I then bought an extra section for the 25, as 22 and 30 means all my work is within reach.

Good point. Just get a 27 and be done. And if you're that much of a wimp take one section off and only add when needed.

The 22’ SLX will reach modern 2nd floor flats as long as they are built on level ground. If they are on a hill and the ground slopes away a 25’ SLX will probably be required.

I dont clean any victorian terraced. Yes it will depend on your work, i have an slx 25 currently, but i also seemed to manage ok when i had an slx 22.

That's cool - a 27 would fit in my truck.

Just to make you aware I don't think that includes the gooseneck or brush head! but yes SXL27 is good size if a little heavy.

The 22ft reaches nearly all domestic stuff if you clean a lot of modern houses it’ll be long enough I can even reach the odd Velux at shoulder height, the 25 would only be needed every now and again for domestics.
Just get an extension section if you need a bit more reach.
-
I couldn’t be doing with adding sections. All that connecting & disconnecting pole hose. Running back to the van etc. A 25’ SLX does pretty much everything. Anything else we go get ‘the big pole’ out the van. A 47’ Super Max. It’s rare we’ll do that though as it’s heavy & awkward for the odd window. We just use it for a couple of blocks of flats really.

I cleaned three floors of a hotel yesterday with an SLX-35.
I was just going clean the top floor with it and use my CLX-22 for the rest.
But the 35 was light enough to do the whole job.
-
25 all the way with an extention in the back for any higher jobs.
Have a 50 ft for 2 + x a month.
-
It’s much more cost effective to have a few poles for when you need them,it may seem cheaper shirt term to struggle on with 1 but well looked after newer poles are a pleasure to use.
I have a 35ft extreme as it doesn’t get used that often it’s like new still 5-6 years on.
-
It depends how much 2nd floor work you have.
If it's loads then get a 25.
If it's just a bit then get a 22 with 2 extensions (if you're going to add 1 extension, you may as well add 2.) As has already been said it's a bit of a faff and it gives you even more reach.
The best alternative is a 22 and a 47 Xtreme.
Personally, I can't be bothered with anything higher than 2 floors, these days! What am I like?!

no one has even mentioned the xtreme poles..... ;D
IMO the best all arounder is an xtreme 25 for most of my work.....the 22 footer comes up short for lots of my jobs......nothing worse than having to go back to the van adding sections wasting time.....also its not always best to extend every sections fully anyway so a 25 footer is the best for me....
anything higher i use an xtreme 47.....i could just manage with a 35 though for the jobs i need it on though....
