Who does them and how much do you charge? I used to do quite a few but over time, decided I hated doing them. Irritated my shoulder a bit (Virosol and wfp) and although the results were v good just didn’t enjoy it.
This might be because I never charged top dollar. I’m thinking of offering the service again but starting at £200.
Those of you who do a decent number of them, what sort of prices do you demand?

£200 in the North East would equate to never cleaning one again. A customer got a shock when I quoted £55 to clean the glass roof of one. ;D
-
Even in commuter belt Surrey I charge £60 on average. ..They don't take that long. I use a big set of sturdy steps to get above them.
-
Minimum start is £65 for a simple 3 x 2 meter with pent roof
Then goes up from there biggest I do is a £375 over a s/pool every 12 weeks

for £200 i think you would have to clean the inside of the roof as well as the outside.......
i will clean the odd outside roof for existing customers......prices usually start from £50 ...this normally puts most customers off for some reason as they think itll only take you 10 mins..... ::)roll......suits me as i cant be bothered with em these days...
i much prefer to just clean my normal regular window cleaning jobs then head home.....
-
£200? Go for it, it’s your call.
You hated doing them, don’t do any now, but at £200 if you did 2 a year in 2 or 3 hours a go, you may start enjoying them.
Charge what you want not what people think
I don’t offer this service
Tony
-
They may want the gutters cleaning out i normaly unclip the unions and wash out debri
Can't stand con roof work
-
We charge around £380 normally it’s part of a full clean inc the f/s/gutters, do a couple a week in summer.
-
I would charge between £75-£150 depending on the size.
-
I have always suggested customers get a quote from Thomas Sanderson and we will do it for half there price outside only for roof on a small one starts from £65 . For a full clean fir the whole of a conservatory inside and out including all door shuts and window closers would start from £350 upwards , Ime not keen doing insides but if the price is right we will do them Ime guessing we get 65% of the ones we quote , I think for years I was way to cheap , won’t be making that mistake again .
-
I remember not that many years ago I do a job for 45 he said to me if I round it up to 50 will do the conservatory roof 🤣🤣,I said to him did you get that one out of a Christmas cracker he just looked at me he was serious lol.

I thought you did them for free in your previous life?
-
Yeah they get the odd free few bits cleaned when they are the ones that look after me,a 45 quid job gets nothing for free I’m afraid, come on now I’m only there 15 minutes lol.
-
Stopped doing them a few months ago as I hate doing them.
Always lost money on them compared to the time I could bang out regular windows.
-
If you are losing money cleaning them it’s down to the way you price them.

£60 average in the south east you are a fool, I bet your customers are laughing at you behind your back charging so cheap
-
Why Scrimble? If they take an hour. £60 is fine

Why Scrimble? If they take an hour. £60 is fine
Because you can earn £100 in an hour
Or more👍

And also they never take just 1hr, unless I just get the dirty ones😉 I book 2hrs for 2 men
-
Mike don’t you clean yours by hand and climb over the roof?
Darran
-
I clean a few in South East. An average of £60 sounds about right. I don't do many and are only for the odd existing customer. Some I charge more for but most are usually done inside an hour. I always check their expectations as to what I'm actually cleaning though. I clean the glass, the partition frames, that's it. Not the gutters and not the fiddly finials. If I were to do that I'd consider it a full day's work / conservatory restoration or deep clean. And that s not something Im interested in, leave that to Thomas Sanderson etc. Silly fiddly bits of plastic that crack , fall off, or get lost....no thanks.
-
Darren, Yes, most times we erect a platform or use the big step ladders we like to be able to touch the finial

-
Good work Mike. See that's a different level of service vs what most consider a run of the mill conny roof clean to consist of.
-
For me that’s a lot of effort when a good squirt of tfr and wfp brush will do the same in less time
Darran

We’ll have to disagree on that one :D
I carry wfp on the van it can do the same job but not in less time (even taking into account setting up the rig)

Wow that’s unbelievably slow. 4 hours to clean a con roof? I take it you 2 are having a long dinner break , that’s why it takes so long? Maybe try using a different chemical supplier as whatever your using doesn’t sound like it’s any good 😂😂. I just use cold water and most are done in an hour , upto 1.5 hours if it’s large.
The photos you’ve uploaded aren’t of large conservatory’s , these can easily be done in an hour.
-
I couldn’t be bothered going to those lengths to clean 1 either they get to more than a decent standard with hot water and maybe a bit of TFR if it’s very dirty.
-

Overkill IMO.
-
You’re probably all right :-\ too much hassle my way, I’ll stop cleaning them.
So let me get this right... tfr + wfp + 1hr is what I need to be doing for around £60 (not the min £380 I charge at the moment)
-
Oops just seen a big problem :o :o I have a £120 minimum charge so I’m only going to be able to clean for people who have 2 of them :-\ :-\
-
You charged £380 for that hutch in the last picture?
-
You charged £380 for that hutch in the last picture?
I could lie and say yes but no that one wasn’t £380 like you say it only a small one and was part of a full clean.
-
Fair play to you Mike but I can think of easier ways to earn 380 notes m8 WFP just doing windows,is 380 a good above average days work for you or not.
-

It’s pointless talking money, I only mentioned my price because people need to know that their is other options to the £60 &£100 prices. I know where this is going so I not getting into ‘average days work/earnings it’s a can of worms
-
Yeah fair enough I just don’t like cleaning them like that to a toothbrush quality standard.
-
Easier ways to earn £380 than 4 leisurely hours cleaning a conny ? ::)roll
Wouldnt mind doing that everyday, id pack the windows in tomorrow
And i hate doing conny roofs, but for that price i would learn to love them :)
-
I think mike has the right idea.....charge high and take your time with decent ladders/platforms etc.....
Personally I'm happy just cleaning regular window jobs most of the time....
-
By the time you have assembled the scaffold and all those steps we would have done the job and be going on to the next 😂😂😂😂 hears (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1601918551_0FC9BE8E-04C7-499F-8EF9-6BB4BDC5F087.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1601918551_CAF750EA-0907-4156-9216-5135F5CEFA44.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1601918551_79818C4E-9698-42C1-945B-C62E431D577A.jpeg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1601918550_2FF4314F-0EF1-4B94-8524-1AAC8A8B1E0D.jpeg) a small one we did earlier

i get it mike i get what your saying i personally would have probably jetwashed the drive sides and back of the property and the conny roof wfp tfr
or gutters empty facias cleaned and conny i would do that on my own no steps small telescopic ladder
can your boy not be dropped off early on a morning to do that and then you go and do the same somewhare else or the same in the nearby street or you go on a window cleaning round and pick him up later
or am i multitasking when i do this

I can’t see why you posted the last picture of the glass roof. Either take a before or after, or is that the after?

Trust me you wouldn’t pass on if you knew what I charged for it Thomas Sanderson eat your heart out 😂😂😂😂
-
Of course
-
I would because I’d get half for doing nothing.
-
Just to resurrect an old topic ;)
This is the awkward type of conservatory we often clean, concealed gutters full of moss with no access >:( We had to climb over the house roof to get to the back

Just to resurrect the same reply again you can keep that job 🤣,anything like that I stick a silly price in if it’s a yes then I’ll get my usual guy to do it and I’ll get a chunk for not touching it,back breaking shoulder aching nightmare of a job that is why would you entertain cleaning stuff like that if you’ve plenty of work.

We have Plenty of work But it includes work like this which I enjoy doing, it’s awkward but all our work is based on our hourly rate, I work out how long it will take then charge the appropriate amount. I don’t care what it is if they are willing to pay we will clean it
-
I’ve just done a close up picture of the part of the roof with the opener I wouldn’t be happy with that if I was paying, you can see it’s not been done with hot water.
-

I’ll try and do better next time.

The outside of that opening frame is still green that’s the trouble with such a big job like that it can get tiresome especially with cold water you don’t feel you are getting anywhere,if you do jobs like that often hot is a must you would really see the difference using hot water even more so if you sprayed it with a degreaser first.
-
The photos are after a hot TFR foam Pre-wash then rinse, we haven’t started cleaning it yet.
You’re right about using hot water, We use a converted Steam diesel pressure washer to wash conservatories. It runs 2 guns at low pressure but quite high flow rates.
-
Ah right you are then Mick nice one 👌
-
Who’s that bloke on the tower scaffold with a big beer belly 🤣🤣 he’s had too much WFP no enough ladder work.
-

Hot water and hypo mix is the way ahead it kills the algi , refreshes the white plastic and comes up well with minimal scrubbing
-
The big belly is a touchy Subject, but that’s my mate/helper Pete And his belly. He has just 6 month ago become single and is now looking for a new woman so he thinks his belly has to go, he started at the gym with me on Monday morning. He’s trying to lose 3 of his 18st
I’ll tell him you noticed his belly it might motivate him ;D
