Title: Round building and first cleans
Post by: Stoots on September 17, 2020, 11:48:53 am
Taken on a full time employee a few weeks ago and starting embarking on the task of finding more work for us.

Id almost forgotten the heartache and stress of building a round having coasted along solo for the last few years.

Doing filthy first cleans that take forever, having people cancel after 1 or 2 cleans. Slow payers, non payers. Picking up all them awkward access and dog poop gardens lol. Takes me back to the first couple of years window cleaning, i think its easy to forget how hard it was when starting out.

Ive added about 40 new custs to the round in 3 weeks but a good few of them i doubt will last very long.

Only another 100 i want by christmas.  ::)roll

How do you pick up so many crap jobs? You’ve been doing this job a while now , surely you can filter out the crap by pricing high?

Yes all from facebook ads and posts. Yes i could filter out the crap and go for higher prices etc but i want volume.

Cant really moan ive spent less than £100 so far on ads i can afford to lose some and have a few bad payers, my cost per customer is so low compared to leaflets or canvassers.

I was mainly just making the point that its easy to forget all the crap you have to go through to build a round when you have been doing it a while with a steady, reliable  customer base.

I set mine on 4 days a week (30 hours). Mainly because i didnt want to be paying him full pay when we have the odd bad weather days. Should be easier to manage with a spare day each week...asked him if he would prefer me to get him up to 5 days but he said he is happy with 4, suits me fine. I just need to get myself up to 3 days a week now and then that will do me for a while.

you dont just want volume

you want volume of quality customers at the right price.

the  main things we do that weed out crappy customers are

1. get the to signup to DD before we give them a clean date
2. charge double for the first clean
3. quote them over the phone or internet from set prices
4. offer one off cleans at a min £60 that they have to pay upfront in full to book (or 3 times normal clean)

if you do that you will have less of the poor customers who take up your time quoting, cleaning, and chasing for money, and you can concentrate on building up a decent round
