I have a few properties I clean with UPVC windows and Georgian bars inside the double glazed unit.
I quoted for a new job, pulled up and saw they were UPVC Georgian bars. As soon as I got out of my vehicle the customer came out to meet me and I counted the windows, gave her the price, she accepted.
It turns out the UPVC bars are on the outside of the glass, that is my first.
One piece of plastic bar came straight off when I was cleaning the frame, it was stuck on with some white double sided sticky tape.
I expect most of you have seen this type of window before. The water seeps underneath the bar from the upper part of the glass to the lower part.
It turned out ok and the customer was happy mainly because her previous cleaner did not touch the frames.

It happens mate not nice I know but them windows are not best designed for pole work better clothing them really if you can be bothered if not just warn any new customers the pitfalls it's up to them then if they want you to do them or not

I clean around 40 houses
With them on make sure you rinse well .

They are a ball ache dirt gets repeatedly trapped behind these not matter how well you rinse they leach runs,if they are well stuck and flat not a problem but if they are raised and badly stuck a nightmare.

Nightmare, can’t scrub them properly without knocking them off

Probably have close to a 1000 houses with these on and they suck!
I have a good system for refitting them now, the main killer is getting the old glue off!!!!

We carry clear silicone - when we get them ping off we dab this along the back surface and push back into place - they never come off again
I was shocked when this first happened - people pay a good price for windows only to have these bits stuck on with double sided tape

Luckily for me it's only the odd property that have these fake Georgian windows......if any bars fall off(which is very rare)I notify the customer but I never attempt to glue them back on....I had one come off a window 3 storeys up.....sod getting the ladders off!

Yes I am trad, I was interested to see if it was a pain for you WFP guys and gals too.
I also did not realise the double sided tape was original, I assumed it was a repair.
I am not a fan of clothing windows, so used a small squeegee and as far as I know they came out looking ok, the window where the fake Georgian bar came off did carry on dripping water onto the glass below though while the customer was talking to me.

Wow.....it must take you ages to clean the windows then!
Ever thought about wfp?even the die hard tradders who slagged me off for going wfp over 10 years ago have switched now! ;D

That's what I thought when I realised the UPVC bars were on the glass, but only 4 windows are like that on the semi bungalow, there is a wooden front door and patio doors.
5 windows like that on the detached bungalow, same wooden front door and patio doors.
I have the perfect size squeegee for those jobs.
When I started window cleaning early 2018 I had the intention of progressing to WFP at some stage.
But the area is saturated and I am having difficulty building a decent round, I seem to get the jobs nobody else wants because they are bad payers or awkward properties. Some are new occupiers of course.
Most times when I quote they knock me down, some are cleaning for peanuts which does not help.
Also, I have had a few walk ups asking me to clean their windows if I am not using WFP. Personally I think WFP does a better job of cleaning the frames and beading so I do not knock it.
Some people are set in their ways and they told me they did not like all the water left on the ground and some say it left marks on the glass. I know from reading this forum that is a common remark even though pure water should not leave marks.

They can be stuck in there ways but in the not to distant future they won’t be many traditional window cleaners about.

I’ve got loads of them in the back of the van. That’s where they end up when they fall off. Sod putting them back on.
