Title: ivy on wall

hi all,

i have removed ivy from a outside wall of a house yesterday but its left a mess on the all the lady is having the wall painted anyway but has asked me want can she do about the makes that the ivy as lefted.

i sid she could have it power washed or

get a sander machine my be with a wire brush rotary one to go over it to remove the bits. any advice on this please.

hi i have just removed ivy from a a huge cable end . i used a petrol power washer and used a turbo nozzle, got rid of it all, every last bit.. the wall looks brand new again, but beware as certain types of manufactured brick will weaken if the top layer is penetrated.

I would tell ivy to get down off that wall, she might fall and cause herself an injury ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D(sorry couldnt resist) seriously powerwashing would be your best(and safest) bet.

Power washing definately does the trick... have come across this many times and never been beaten yet.

thanks all the wall is rendered with white paint but the lady is having it painted again so if i power wash it it such be ok.

Go easy on the pressure if it is rendered!!!
If the render is in good condition then all should be fine, but if you happen to hit a fault in the render you could end up taking a chunk out of it.

I'll second that, i have seen render come off, without anyone power washing!!, make sure you do a quick tester on an unconspicuous bit first   ;)
