many years ago before I semi retired I had over 800 customers on my books, these days as I only work part time I'm down to 314 which suits me fine, I do take on more work if asked but I never look for it or advertise.
I was just wondering how many jobs you younger guys have to run a successful business.
-
im part time too....i currently have 358 jobs on my books at the moment......its plenty for me......
-
358 customers sounds like full time to me ???
-
Not sure exactly how many I've got but I'd estimate somewhere between about 185-200.

It’s 358 front onlys :D

457 currently, had close to 550 a couple of months ago, sold about 70 off and had a cull as was about 2 weeks behind constantly lol.
Even 450 is too many, to be on time probably 400 would be better.

so many variables.......i have lots of different sizes jobs and frequencies(4 weekly/6 weekly/8 weekly/12 weekly, twice yearly and annually)

Just hit 500 last week. Quite a milestone for me since starting with 1 in 2017.

Yeh, 500 is a good milestone. Problem I had is this where I got stuck, flat out everyday on my own. I think i hit 500 about 2 years ago and fast forward to today I have less. I always had plans to grow and grow but the reality is going beyond just yourself is much easier on paper than when you try to apply it.

I’m somewhere between 120 and 150 but not far off full. Average job price for me is a better indicator of a good round than number of customers, especially with being probably 70%+ commercial.
-
a bit higher than I thought.... 1352 ( windows )

It doesn't matter how many customers you have as long as you make a reasonable profit !
you could have 1000 under priced jobs !
whats the point ? ::)roll

This is true - you could have 1000 £10 jobs or 100 £100 jobs - its just a nice light hearted thread

Yeah means nothing I would say someone with 1000s of jobs the chances are there’s a lot of chaff in that.

Maybe but on the flip side losing 1 of 500 jobs is less of a hit than losing 1 of 250

10 years ago over 700. Now just under 300. I've been sorting the wheat from the chaff for years and taken better quality work on so now I'm working part time hours and earning about the same >:(
-
You could have 300 jobs another cleaner could have 900 if you are doing jobs that are 3x prices better than his you are cleaning a 1/3rd for the same,I had a light bulb moment once and that’s how it went lol.
Some people could chop their work up in money terms and employ with no need for immediate work before they were to start building on that,it’s nothing to do with I’ve got 1000s of jobs means nothing at all.
-
Has said it’s about profit not just numbers but I am now down to just over 600 after many culls and passing other work on including all extras almost on a daily basis.

I too used to have around 700 jobs when I was on the ladders ....I sold a chunk off around 14 years ago now....most of them were underpriced smaller jobs.....
It was a good decision as I'm in a much better position now with my round than back then.....

Imo the idea is to have work you enjoy doing or jobs that are hassle free.
