Post by: lee_dewing on June 12, 2020, 06:20:06 pm
That time again 🤦‍♂️😁

Direct line sent me new van insurance premium was £670 Last yr

New insurance £806

Nothings changed no accidents etc

Me and van are a year older 😁

2014 plate Fiat doblo swb 61,000 miles on the clock (reg jan 2015)

Done compare the market with
£200 excess
Including  :

breakdown recovery
Personal accident cover
No claims discount protected
Courtesy vehicle

Best was Hastings premier £600 ish

Excesses:
Compulsory £100 | Voluntary £200 | Total £300

And included others mentioned

What do you think
Anyone used Hastings

Anyone recommend someone

I’m wfp sorry forgot to mention 🤦‍♂️

I don’t have a fitted tank
Just use barrels

Thanks lee

If you’ve done the comparison sites that just about covers most providers. Might be worth trying Aviva who don’t use the comparison sites.

Just left Aviva this week. They're put my premiums up for the car and can by over 25%. Called them and they told me there was absolutely nothing they could do to bring it down. Likewise on compare Hastings Premier seem to be the place to go now.

I had my cars with Hastings years ago they were ok ,but kept putting up the premiums every year so I shopped around and surprisingly got the cheapest price from my bank Lloyds , still with them 4 years in premiums haven’t gone up by more than £10 in that time .

Try 'Dial Direct' -  also add your spouse - sometimes lowers premium.

Try Aplan, they were the cheapest for me with with half price legal cover which give a courtesy van with a system if you have an accident.

Call David Aldous at their Carterton branch.

Also worth trying Grove & Dean, been with them a couple of years and price matched on renewal.

Gladiator are worth a try.

They're a specialist broker and usually beat the comparison sites.

Last time I tried to get a quote off Direct line they said they don't insure vans with water tanks. That was a few years back. Been with Alexander Swan ever since & had no problems.

Thanks for all the leads fella’s

Will be on the phone 📞 Monday or Tuesday 👍

It’s a shame insurance companies can’t reward loyal customers

Maybe they wouldn’t be continually searching for new customers

Will contact all mentioned

Lloyds, sounds good practice
Small increase every year, understand that.

But 25% upwards
That’s taking the p155😤

Try adding your wife/partner to the insurance (my wife never drives the van - but adding her to the policy it brought the cost down. I can't remember by how much...).

I have a 2016 Fiat Doblo - more or less the same cover as you (apart from breakdown cover) for just £257 with Van Compare Direct.

Looking at it now , this could be why mine has gone down each year , I added my other half to the policy then the premiums started to drop !
Martin Lewis also mentioned it on his show a while ago
