Co-op with FSB membership is free. It's utterly terrible but it's free.

Why is a bank bad or terrible? I’m with Santander , the money lands there and that’s it. Can’t say anything good or bad about them as it’s just a destination where the money lands ???

Same. I’m with NatWest. Money shows instantly when customers transfer, that’s all I care about.

Text message when a payment hits your account? Just check on your online banking app, it’s takes literally 5 seconds.

Lloyds business bank account. Might charge more in fees than others but do have an extremely good online banking system and phone app for paying in work cheques very forthcoming with loans and overdrafts if you need them.

Fees would be there only negative point but perfectly affordable for my own personal circumstances. Can't say much more than that really

I have that with one customer only and not every time. I'm with Natwest. It could be that she pays it into my phone number that triggers it.

I would like the same sound that it makes when you sell something on eBay -

CHA CHING!

But I think it would be annoying after a while , and would kill my phone battery going off all day .
Why do you need to know when each payment goes in? Surely it’s fine checking your bank balance when your sat on the sofa at night ???

Its people who like to feed thier Ego i guess they feel better when they hear it and mates around or something . i agree just sit on work desk once a day to track it all then wrap up and switch off , last thing you want is it going off when the Mrs wants a bit of time with you away from work..

Lloyd’s, simply because their banking apps are second to none.

I’ve got HSBC’s and Barclays accounts, hate there banking apps. Lloyd’s is seemless and great for checking payments etc.

Aren't Nat West horrendously expensive? We moved because of the fees. Even then, to have stayed would have been well over £1,000 a year. It would be more than double that now!

We went to Santander. £7.50 a month and we have a lovely branch manager who lets us pay cheques in the counter as we were taking 1/2 hour at the ATM.  ;D

I’ve recently switched to starling bank for all my accounts, business and personal.
Business account is free as a sole trader, and have been very happy with it so far.

I use a NatWest personal account as I’m not LTD anymore, so for me it’s free. The business bank charges are quite high from memory though yes.

Me too. They did try to pressure me into a business bank account a long time back. For the few transactions I do it would have cost me £80 a month for that account.

Actually thinking back, I think we estimated about £200 a month then. Eye watering. We're double that turnover now at least so I dread to think what it might be.

I moved from HSBC to Lloyds arround 3 years ago and I think they're a whole lot better than any other bank I've been with (all 4 of the big ones). When I moved, I opened a personal account (free banking) because I went semi-retired and didn't have the turnover any more, but they've never raised the fact that I have payments coming in from all sorts of sources.

Santander me

Free business banking

Was thinking of changing
Just because they’ve shut 2 out of 3 branches local to me

Was thinking of NatWest as more branches

But won’t bother now reading posts 🤦‍♂️

Once Barclays started charging for cheques , bacs and cash deposits I had to rethink. It was costing £150 plus a month !!
Now I’m on Barclays e payments account 7.50 a month For unlimited bacs payments.
Plus a Santander account for all my cheques and cash for 7.50 a month. This account I just let build for tax , expenses etc
So £15 all in all instead of £150
