Just starting to get into extra services I heard there was a good gutter vac for about £600 or so ? Need it complete with pole etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction what to look for and what would you pay for one on eBay second-hand?

Cheers yes I had just found those on ebay.
Just renamed post now appropriately
I hear the Dream of working from the ground is not practical you can sometimes get unstuck and have the downpipe blocked and you need to go off a ladder disassembling the downpipe and replacing potential broken clips.
Do you give customers 2 prices one with a simple gutter clear without any problems and another extra price if they down pipe gets blocked and need two people for safety reasons?
Also any sludge could be sealing the gutter and when you leave customer can call you saying I have a leak gutter I guess you have to put the customer straight regarding that bit
Looks like gutter cleaning on a big scale can be a bit of a pain
Any wise words of wisdom for the scenarios?

We very rarely get ladders out. Perhaps one in fifty?

Here's what I decided to do let me know what you think.
Just had a customer on the phone and I gave him a standard price if there is no ladder work or downpipe issues.
if there is there will be an extra charge and will be quite a lot more he accepted the quote
I also said if you have any leaky areas afterwards it means you need to have your gutters repaired and seals replaced. As we only use the pole.
Do you think this is quite sensible just covering myself?

Well my guys love doing gutters and normally just fly through, so if you price a 4 bed at £90, in 90% of cases you'll be done in 35-40 minutes. The odd occassion the ladder comes out is more than covered by all profit.

I understand but I wouldn't want anyone going up a ladder that high especially alone.
-
always price for the worst case scenario - as mentioned you might and I stress might need ladders once in a blue moon most gutter clears are done in 30 mins
we offer repairs to joints at £15 per joint - no ned to disassemble or replace seals you can buy "gutter gunk" and seal it inside takes 5 minutes
but yes if your unhappy doing it alone - don't

If anyone is nervous I just go and do it and get someone to foot the ladder if necessary. It’s very rare. Those that say they have to go up a lot either have an underpowered vac or trying to put you off. Money spinner and captive market.

I've got the skyvac atom and i've never really had a problem.
I just do basic, simple domestic stuff (for my existing customers).
With the right technique, and the right tool, you'd be surprised what it can clear.
It's a learning curve, like everything else.
I just offer...'gutter clearing'...that's it.
I have cleared the odd down pipe, but they are usually fairly straightforward to do and you can just add a bit on at the end for your trouble. In general a good little earner.
