WTF?
-
I put all my silvers and coppers in a tin, then Christmas time, I go to my local tescos and put them in the coin exchange.
it gives me a token which I then exchange for cash!
I get anything from 3 to 400 quid.
-
I paid in over 2k in cash this week including £100 in coins.
-
Most of my customers pay in cash so I stockpile a large amount of notes and coins as well. It's a nuisance when the notes or coins get changed for new ones like with the £20 notes at the moment. Aside from paying them in at the bank I've slowly been trying to get rid of these old £20 notes at the self service checkouts when doing my grocery shopping. It was worse with the £10 notes though a few years ago as I generally receive more of those than the £20's.
-
Put them in the bank; you're allowed five bags per visit.
I try and put change in the self service machine at Tesco too.
-
Dazmond used to have two bags at a time apparently.
-
Nat West have a big machine you can tip the lot into. It counts it, gives you a chit, you go the cashier present it and it goes in your account. Santander do the same i think.

The banks are closed aren’t they?
-
Have you considered taking up drinking, smoking and class A drugs again Daz?
That’ll deal with the problem of having too much cash knocking about.
-
Stick all of it on Lotto tomorrow
-
I use it to pay for shopping, self service machines take all my coins.

Haha...no the thought never crosses my mind these days mate.....not when I look out my window and see what 30+ years of drink and drugs has done to guys I've known for many years(the ones that are still living)....👍

Most of ours (Liverpool) are open, reduced hours/social distancing (i.e big queues) but they're open.

It’s due to a change in the law about money laundering, the bank used to swap coins for notes now you have to pay the coins into your account then withdraw it in notes if that’s what you want .
All our jobs are straight pounds or 50p this saves carrying much change in small coins all we need is £1 coins or 50pence and a few notes .

So are mine...straight pounds, very few 50s.....I've just not bothered sorting my change out for months and months.......
-
Hopefully a local corner shop will be able to swap some of it for notes.....I cant be doing with all this change.....they used to years ago....not sure now with the pandemic though....
-
I usually cash them in at the bank then exchange them for euros.......looks like I’m gonna have plenty spending money for my next holiday, whenever that may be.
-
yeah I feel your pain Daz - only this morning I found a crumpled up envelope in the van - when I looked inside it had £2000 from a cash roof clean I did before the lockdown...
im just stumped with what to do with it really .....

Reminded me of when my parents used to have a milkman that collected on a Friday night back in the 60's!! The biggest float of coins I carry is never more the £20 which is bad enough having jingling around in my pocket but £400 no way!!
-
My coin jar is full but the bank won't take coins at the moment.....the cash counting machines in supermarket charges I think it said 17%.

i cleaned £130 of it in my kitchen sink today in very hot soapy water......any change i get at the end of my working day will get cleaned now before going in the bag

im gonna keep £40 in change both in my van and car and give it the local garages when i fill up to get rid of it! ;D
