Hi everyone, here’s a thing. Looked on the debt column of Aworka yesterday evening and at the top is a regular customer who suddenly owes £195! The lads cleaned him Monday and the printed sheet was showing as nothing owing. Went on his go Cardless account and it’s saying they haven’t collected any money from him since 2018 as his partner hadn’t also signed the mandate. So for almost 2 years it’s been registering as being paid, no emails or anything saying failed payment or anything until last night! Every sheet saying he was paid up to date. As you can imagine he’s furious 😡
Anyone else ever had this?

You should let him off as you obviously haven’t missed it ;D ;D ;D

I noticed this a few years ago and there was a post on here not that long ago about it

Agree as its your own error and you should have picked up on this sooner.
Dont know much about using GoCardless with Aworka, as I was used to manually doing my DD via GoCardless myself. However I would always receive an email confirming payment along with details of who has paid etc

Yup.

Yeh I wouldn't dream of billing him for it, its your mistake.
I use go cardless but I periodically check it.
-
Read your replies, but it is more his mistake as than yours, in law he can not use a mistake to not pay, in these days of massive fraud the banks are quite clear about regularly checking your bank statements, and remember, he has only one window cleaning bill per month or whatever, you have to keep track of hundreds of customers. You have to suspect he knew!!
-
Furious you found out more like! Come on , how can a customer not know he’s been getting free window cleans? How can he not know that no money has been coming out his account? He should’ve owned up sooner and told you
-
Yes but the same arguement can be used against the business owner. How does a business not know who owes money and what money is coming in against the work that has been done.
Clearly it hasnt been missed! Yet that is no excuse not to claim the payments owed, as its admin error on both sides

Nonsense.
Any company provides you a service / product you are responsible for paying for it.

After the 1st clean , I would’ve waited and checked to see my payment has come out (as a customer). If it didn’t, I would contact whoever I owe money to and say this go card less hasn’t worked and no payment has come out , have you set it up correctly?
I personally see every payment come in and I check it off manually as an everyday job.
But the customer is defo in the wrong imo for not telling you

If say your electric provider had a similar issue do you think they would say "oh well, our fault we'll let you off with the last two years"?
Fat chance.

It's not go cardless mistake it's yours thers 2 ways you can do go cardless as you know 1 is rolling direct debit I dont do that anymore to much pressure to clean for me money been paid now I have to clean them I did this way but felt pressurised to clean with other stuff on
So I have a note on the clean as important read note or go cardless then I clean then I apply for the money 5 minutes or at the end of a run of houses when iam taking a break log into go cardless on the phone then apply for money
It's not a rolling direct debit for me it's easier try doing that but as you say it's only 1
Once next time make sure the sign up is correct easy thing to do but 2018 wow you should be checking every single payment and how it's made cash transfer direct debit card reader
Its easy mistake to do ;D hope you get paid

It's go cardless's mistake. They mark the mandate as active when it is not. Simples.

Well here we are Monday morning. The customer has emailed me over the weekend , he doesn't do online banking and his nearest Santander branch is 30 miles away so he can't easily check back over 2 years but he's checked his recent statements and can see that no payments have been made. He's upset but says he feels its the fault of Go Cardless and that both of us have been let down by them. He's willing to come to an arrangement to pay the money, there's some decent people out there guys.
I followed Soupy's link and checked my Go Cardless account, "pending customer submission" and found out that he's the only one who's been caught out by this. I do feel its the company's fault, I pay them and Aworka for the convenience of direct debit, if I thought I have to reconcile every payment by them at the end of each day I would have stuck with bank transfer for free. The attraction of their service is that they do the work for you.
Any alls well that ends well atm.

My water provider let me off for a £1500 water bill(over 2 years) for mixing up my water meter with a neighbours (most of the time the property was empty)....I paid the princely sum of around £140 for 2 years!I knew there was something wrong but who was I to complain?!😁
