Title: Coronavirus - Are you still contacting customers the day before?
Post by: supernova77 on May 24, 2020, 10:44:41 am
Hi All,

Pre Coronavirus we only messaged customers the day before if they have locked gates that they need to unlock...

Since day one of lockdown we have carried on working, but have sent all customers the following message the night before:

---
Hi. Window cleaning is due tomorrow. Due to the current situation, we will not knock when we arrive as we usually do. We will also send an email invoice instead of leaving a yellow slip. The safety of our customers is important to us, so we hope these measures will ensure we can continue to provide our service during these unusual times. Many Thanks. Iconic Window Cleaning.
---

At first we got replies from customers saying "yes please, I'm glad you're still able to work" etc.. etc..

We are still sending this message to everyone the day before... But all customers are now getting this message for the 2nd time since lockdown... No one replies anymore as they are all happy for us to continue.

I think that we should stop sending the message, and just go back to our pre Coronavirus locked gates messages only...

What is everyone else doing now?

Andy  :)

80% of my customers are turn up and clean...no text whatsoever and no knock on the door...the ones that I do text I've sent my normal messages all through the lockdown.....the only exceptions have been the skipped jobs....

Got one more week then we're back to the start. Won't be sending out messages after this week.

The messages were part of our emergency risk assessment measures that we felt we needed in order to return to work safely.

Following the behaviour of no10's top advisor it looks like we needn't have bothered.

Iv messaged all customers the day before, even the ones I don’t usually txt and will continue to until end of May , just as common courtesy really . It’s not been business as usual this month and all customers have been great full for the notification.
Il then return to normal txts to the only required customers from the 1st June

Stopped leaving my pre-notifying letters about  two weeks ago. When the rules were relaxed a bit. Just turn up and clean.

Well the four weekly stuff was repeating so they didn't need it and for the 8 weekly I just knocked the door and requested permission which no one refused from that point onwards.

If that's what your instincts tell you to do then crack on. That's how laws are based now, apparently.

My customers are probably about 70% text ahead anyway so for most yes but that's just normal.

For the ones I normally just turn up and clean then im back to doing that now but was messaging everyone first few weeks.

I've almost forgot about coronovirus now, everyone's been told to go back to work and most shops etc should start to open next few weeks.

At about 2pm I was waiting parked near a junction in Southmead Bristol which I do quite regularly. Certainly busier on the roads today. The Cummings effect?

You should only drive to test your eyes if you've been seriously ill?
Stay alert.

77 deaths today , figure coming down lots everyday now. Definitely a good thing , if the figure continues to drop like this, it’ll hopefully be around zero at the beginning of June 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Then I can book a flipping holiday abroad!!! But that’s only if we don’t have to wear masks whilst we are there...

Don’t forget the need to quarantine for 2 weeks on your return........that’s enough to put me off!

Hopefully there will be a decent amount of testing soon, surely tests = no quarantine.

It’s not been 600 for about 2 weeks now so I highly doubt it , there will be a little spike then drop off again

And two weeks quarantine when you get there is too much. Seven days is not enough but ten days quarantine is about right.

There is no way they can police this, firstly , who’s gonna know you’ve  been away?
Secondly, are they going to put security outside your house to stop you going out?
I just don’t want to be laying on the beach with a mask 😷 on

They’ve recruited 25000 contact tracers who will be able to police it. Spot checks will apparently be made to see that people are staying in quarantine after returning, upto £1000 fines for those that don’t.  We have also turned into a nation of curtain twitchers and snitches so it will also be policed by the public.

I won’t be going on our booked Greece trip in August even if flights are running again by then. I can’t be doing with the stress of temperature checks, airports being set up to restrict movement, quarantine, having to social distance in Greece etc etc the list goes on.

Will holiday in the UK this year to avoid all of the above.

In 2019 , Uk citizens took 72 million trips overseas . So going by your figures , they won’t be able to police it. No chance .
I have been living in the same house for 18 years , I don’t have a clue which neighbours have gone on holiday. My next door neighbour goes abroad a lot and I only find out when they are abroad and the Mrs shows me the pictures on Facebook.
I don’t see them go or comeback 🤷‍♂️

I’m not saying they will police it, I’m just saying that they are saying that they’ll be carrying out random spot checks on people that have travelled. I’m sure they wont need to rely on Facebook pics to know who’s been away 😂 Passport numbers are scanned and can be tracked should they wish to.

My Mrs works in a school with special needs children so it wouldn’t be the responsible thing to do to go into work for her after returning against the guidelines.

Anyway that’s not the main issue for me, the main issue is the restrictions that they are putting in place in the resort that we go to in Greece. All tables in restaurants 2 metres apart, no menus or condiments on the tables, must disinfect your own sunbed after use, if any of your family become ill you must self isolate for 2 weeks etc etc. It just wouldn’t be the same holiday that we are used to.

I know what you mean , I want to book a holiday but I’m not walking around with a mask on in the sun, it’s too difficult (impossible?) to social distance at these all inclusive hotels especially in the restaurants. I’ll keep looking though! There’s some good deals for next year on the web already  :)

I 100% wouldn’t be going to a big all inclusive resort, in fact you couldn’t pay me to go to one of those at the moment. 1 case of coronavirus and the whole place will have to isolate. The stress around that would just make the whole experience unenjoyable.

it will be a joyless experience if you plan on going abroad on holiday this year.....social distancing,no buffet food, temperature checks, masks on planes.........also imagine having to self isolate abroad?or even worse ending up in a foreign hospital with this virus.....its not even worth thinking about...you wont be covered either by travel insurance...it could end up costing you a fortune...........
