I use a SLX 27.
residential work btw.
-
I use an ionic 35ft Glyder plus
It’s more than adequate for almost all residential, including most skylights, while being stiff and light too. I find they last about 18 months - 2 years as long as you spray the sections with lacquer every 3-4 months or so.
I have an additional section that I keep in the van to add an extra 5ft on the 2 jobs that I need it.
-
I used the slx25 with 2 extensions and used it everyday

Really ?

I use an SLX 18 for 95%
Extreme 25 for 4%
SLX 35 for 1%
-
Do you think I'd notice the difference in weight if I moved down from an SLX 27 to SLX 22?
-
yes massively and again if your not already using a light brush bud,
-
Xtreme 22 does 95% of my work
Slx39 for the few higher windows
-
SLX 18 - 90%
SLX 22 - 8%
SLX 30 - 2%
-
Extreme 47 with all but three sections taken off, making it around 22ft.
Then adding the sections as and when needed.
-
Slx 22 85-90%
For the rest it’s a combination of an old slx 40
Or SL for commercials where is just window after window
After using the SL everything else feels heavy, regardless of the height!
-
I use an slx 25 for 100% of work however I have been thinking of getting an slx 22 because I don’t think I actually extend the 25 to maximum very often.
-
Extreme 20 for everyday work. Covers 95% of my daily work.
Extreme 47 for anything that is longer and a few 3/4 storey jobs that I need.
-
18ft Extreme 95%
25ft SLX 5%
-
Slx 22 with carbon gooseneck and extreme sill brush.
-
we use a CLX 22 and an SLX 25 for higher ones.
the CLX is our bread and butter pole. we love it and really good value. as it gets used most it takes the brunt go our wear and tear so saves us having to replace the SLX as often
we have a very big pole on the van but thats only really needed for special jobs or commercials
-
SLX 25' for 95% of our work.
-
I use an 18 phantom 80% and 25 slx the rest apart from a few jobs a month I need the slx 39
Think ill just order an extreme 22 next as that will be a better all rounder than swapping about between the 18 and 25.
-
XTREME 25 95%
XTREME 47 5%
an 18/22 footer is too short for lots of work so a 25 footer is just right for the majority of windows on my round.....

I've never had a CLX 22 but I found the CLX 27 had a very short life compared to an SLX. Might be a false economy?
-
Using a clx for a full time experienced window cleaner is a bit like using argos spanners as a mechanic. They are fine starting out or part time use but false economy.
-
SLX 22
-
Nathan now uses the Unger 12”and 14” telescopic squeegees lol,you can add a 2” section to reach downstairs fan lights 🤣🤣🤣
-
Extreme 22'
Anything higher...can't be bothered. ;D

Extreme 18 and slx extensions when required.

Unless you are cleaning really high stuff all you need in the van is 22-25-35ft poles, the choice is yours with the smaller poles either 22-25 but I prefer the 22 most of the time.
The 22 reaches nearly all modern stuff including the odd roof Velux windows,it’ll clean all modern 3rd floor stuff it’s just that every now and again the 25 will reach from the hip rather than the shoulder when in use.

your making your job much harder than it needs to be using a 35ft pole as an everyday pole! ::)roll ;D
its up to you but rather you than me......... ;D
-
35’ Extreme without the handle section. 99%
Of my work...... so 30’ I suppose with Extreme flocked cill brush and swivel.
-
22 & 35 most work
-
Yeah I thought that a 35ft pole I have an extreme 35ft I wouldn’t want to use it for everything,if you use light poles you get used to them the same with brushes any slight increase you’ll notice it no matter how little.
The pole has to be the most important thing getting the lightest and stiffest is a no brainier for me,paired with the electric reel it’s a game changer.

nope. we've been using CLXs and SLXs for about 8 years now and we all love the CLX. they last fine. the CLX 22 is a great pole. the longer versions we find too bendy and the SLX comes into its own.
a CLX will last us about a year give or take, depending on who's using it

Exactly. An SLX even with staff will last at least 2 years. More likely 3-4.
-
SLX-22. Covers nearly all work.

This question is to the guys that are using 22ft poles every day.....
Dont you have days where you need an extra few foot for skylights,3 storey, the odd awkward window?I'd hate to have to go back to the van for a slightly longer pole just for the odd window here and there.....
-
We use SLX-25’s for everyday work.
They’re not badly priced and they last for ages!

Go to the van once in a blue
Moon 🌑 for a bigger pole or buy a slightly bigger one and have to carry 2 extra sections about with you for basically nothing,no brainer it surprises me what I can reach with the 22.

Why the rolly eyes? It’s a fact that you’ll get 2-3 years out of an SLX. I’ve only had one CLX and it didn’t last a year but I’ve probably had 15-20 SLXs and other than a few clamps needing gluing and a couple of snapped sections they last 2 to 3 times longer. Probs not much difference in performance but a big difference in longevity. Otherwise I wouldn’t buy them.
-
I get about 6 months from an SLX. Then I sell it. If CV19 hadn't hit I was planning to drop that to 4 months.

You must treat your poles with next to no respect to get that short amount of time with them.

It's not like you to jump to false conclusions. Far from it: I just like working with new, unworn poles. I believe it speeds up my work enough to be worth the small depreciation I suffer when I sell a pretty much brand-new pole on.

They are lovely when brand new though. ;D

Nope the clx 22 is horrible when compared with an extreme 22.
Of course if you have staff then that's what they get given and have no choice but to love them.
Dont get me wrong they are useable but if you are a full time solo operator then the pole is the most important part of your equipment, to scrimp on it is utter madness.
-
I just checked and my SLX18 was purchased in March 2016 .
Still going strong too , all I have had to replace has been the delrin shims .
-
I sold a 4 year old slx 22 once, after laquering it i got £180 for it
-
Like a good pair of shoes better when they are broken in a bit I find, the sections fly out quicker or smoother.

Quite simply no!
Anything higher, I either use my stepladders (which are very good), or don't bother.

There maybe some truth in this but even though the clx is a budget pole I doubt it would be in Gardiners interests to sell something labelled as Argos quality.
I can remember back in the day, buying my first pole from Gardiners pre slx or clx before they produced their own.. A 39 ft universal fiberglass with a vikan brush ! :o
Even a clx is a dream to use compared to that. If I only needed an 18 ft I'd probably just buy a clx, nowt wrong with them.

Longevity. An SLX outlasts a CLX by years.
