As my resin was running a little low i,ve just purchased some more, will it be ok to tip it into the barrell along with the existing resin?
-
I wouldn’t
Start a fresh then you no we’re you are.
-
I'd use it I wouldn't waste it. I have regenerated resin mixed up from several different batches. Still works fine.
-
How do you regenerate resin?
-
Don’t think you can.

Using Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide) and Hydrochloric Acid both quite nasty chemicals.
In a solution of Caustic Soda the Anion resin beads separate from the Cation beads one type float to the top the other type sink.
As for the chemicals used the Sodium combines with the Chlorine to form Sodium Chloride (Common Salt) and Hydrogen and Oxygen combine to form H2O water!
It's a bit of a faff but useful to know how to if we ever get a shortage of resin.
As per this note on Daqua's site.
"Please note in the coming months there will be a shortage of resin so can we kindly request customers to limit to 3 bags."
That was put up at the start of Covid so I don't know if the supply will be interrupted it seems like we're over the worst now.
