I have been cleaning this detached bungalow for 18 months, I charge £12. She does mention from time to time that she thinks I am expensive.
Her husband is at risk Asthmatic and I have to call her before I go, I just called her to let he know I will be there Monday afternoon, she asked "will you be wearing gloves?"
Yes.
"Will they be a new pair of gloves"
Yes.
"Will you be wearing a mask"
Yes and I will use clean cloths and water on your job. If you wont pay by bank transfer, can you please leave the money in an envelope that I can take with me (she usually like to leave it in a zip up plastic wallet that I drop through her letterbox).
"Yes I will do that, do not touch the gate or close it when you leave as it will be less to for me to sterilize when you leave, oh and the good news is I had my gutters emptied out last week and the FSG cleaned".
Oh, I do those jobs as you can see from my business card.
"Yes but I expect you are more expensive than him, he charged £40 and he repaired my gate".
Yes, you did well there, see you Monday

if its not worthwhile doing the job and dealing with the moaning i suggest putting the price up or stopping your service to them.
running your own business isn't easy, but one of the good things about it is you can choose what your services are and what prices you charge for them.

Is it worth the trouble do you need the job for that sort of price with all the stipulations that come with it,they are lucky to have a window cleaner for that price full stop.

Last month she called me back on Sunday to make sure I did not clean the house of the one person in that village with Covi19.
I had it in mind today that if she gave me more hoops to jump through I would tell her I wont be cleaning for the foreseeable future.
If I had more work she would have been dropped a while back as she often forgets to unbolt the gate or leave the payment even when I have called before to let her know I am coming. But I have lost a lot of work and I clean 2 more in that road and 6 more in the next road.
If I got a move on and no rain I could finish all my work tomorrow.
My post was more about the low prices others charge here in the Lincs countryside.
I used to have a business (not window cleaning) in the south east where the work was plentiful and the pay much higher.

Get rid of her, she is concerned about you wearing a mask and gloves but is happy to deal in cash :o

Window cleaning work isn’t plentiful anywhere now. The country is awash (no pun intended) with window cleaners.

NO i dont always wear gloves.....
NO i dont wear a mask.....
...id also mention that i often have coughing and sneezing fits while im working on customers properties......do you want to me to miss yours out love? ;D

These people are getting worse.
I wouldn’t deal with them.
£12 not worth the hassle.
Especially when she got another windy to do the gutters,
DUMP
-
She knows you do gutters and got someone else she should if stayed loyal your price can't be that much more even so shouldn't have used someone else very rude. She. shouldn't have told you that they had been done she probably has someone else in mind to do the windows a Windy's probably undercut you on a price so she might be waiting for you to dump only saying mate.
-
I don't mind going out the way for good customers but she sounds a PIA on top of that she know you do gutters etc and didn’t even bother to ask you.
She would be dumped.
-
I personally could not be bothered with a tight fisted PITA customer like this for 12 pound or 50 pound, i would have
happily dumped this one ages ago. :o ::)roll
-
Whats the old c i u proverb DUMP REPLACE WITH 2👍
-
Without people like this our job would be very boring. ;D
Next clean: yes madam, I am wearing new gloves but I can't wear a mask this time as I have to remove it every time I cough.

Agreed, I got there and the glass was covered in white marks (we are in a hard water area and whoever cleaned the FSG had let the water dry). The customer came to the window and I could hear her say "it wont take you long they were cleaned last week".
The postman arrived when I was going to clean the front door, I moved to the next window and he laughed at me wearing the mask and gloves and said "they are as much use as a chocolate teapot" I said she will expect you to be wearing them delivering that parcel.
The parcel was antibacterial spray that she uses on the door handles and gate when I leave and any letters that are posted through her letterbox.
Before she could close the door I told her the glass has watermarks and went to point them out to her and she yelped as I got near.
I finished the windows and from inside the kitchen she said "see you in 4 weeks" I gestured, no.
She ran out, and I said I wont be coming back, she was shocked. I just said this is getting ridiculous and don't use anything abrasive when you try to get the water marks off in case you damage the glass.
She said "oh, I think my neighbour across the road has a window cleaner" I said she does, there are plenty about, thanks for your custom, goodbye.
I cannot imagine her next window cleaner being there 28 days on the dot (never missed a date) calling her before each clean, wearing a mask and gloves and putting up with her constant fussing about.
I need the work but do not need the hassle of that one, it is also very hot wearing a mask and working.

You’ll feel a whole lot better the next time you’re in the area knowing you don’t have to put up with her nitpicking anymore. In a few months time you’ll be wondering why you didn’t dump her sooner.
-
I wouldn’t have even bothered with her , if she ran after me I would have had to crack her in the chops , lady or not ;D ;D ;D
-
honestly dont worry!....these jobs are not worth keeping on your books......you ll feel much better next time your cleaning in the area that you dont have to dance to her tune.......
its always less than 1% of customers that give you 99% of the hassle.....get rid or train them to YOUR working practices not theirs......
TBH you sound like a bit of a push over mate.....dont let it happen again! :)
