The battery on the car was no good for purpose any longer as it wouldn’t hold enough charge to start the car, but will it do for powering the pump? 95ah as a spare.

All you can do is try it , full charge it and see how long it goes for , take a spare though !

If you go on you tube it shows you how to re claim a battery with baking soda I thought it was just a cheap hack but the more you resurch it gets intetesting

Its very unlikely that the battery will be any use for WFP a car battery is different to a Leisure battery.
A car battery has thin lead cells as it is designed to give a high current output for a very short period just to start the engine. Then while driving the alternator is recharging the battery while the engine is running. In Comparison a leisure battery has thicker lead cells which are designed for continuous low current draw over several ours. If the car battery is not holding charge it will not run your pump for mote than a few minutes before going flat.

One of the local lads uses 2 batteries; one on charge and the other out for the day. Many years ago he purchased 2 Lion batteries, 1 starter and 1 leisure. He got 2 years from the starter battery and 2.5 years from the leisure battery.
I'm not sure at what age the starter battery should have been replaced because he ended up taking both batteries out every day as the starter battery would only last the morning. He then had to recharge both batteries overnight.
Now he uses 2 leisure batteries.
I will still say every time that a leisure battery is the way to go for us even although I have given some thought to a starter battery. You can use a stone to hammer a nail into wood but a hammer is still the best tool for the job.

Got mine from a specialist battery shop local to me......they test your battery before selling you a new one for you vehicle to make sure it is your battery at fault.........sold me a 12v 25ah leisure battery @ £60.......easily lasts all day.

If he is only running a pump that is possible , I have power meters in the van and my 100 psi shurflo is meant to draw 6 amps per hour at full tilt , I have never seen it pull that !
I use about 2 LPM at the brush and the pump only draws 2.5amps doing so

No 25 ah......last one lasted 3.5 years but started fading at dinnertime hence the change.

Yeh I couldn’t be doing with that. Leisure battery for me in both vans. Spring controllers, Scr & bench charge once a week or so whilst situated in van. Job done.

Thanks for the info gents I will charge the battery and see how it goes. I just used car batteries when I first started too. The leisure battery gets charged every couple of days so if the car battery gives up, the leisure will still run for rest of the day

You should be benching any battery every night if you don’t have a secondary charging method onboard the van anyway , that is the golden rule to keeping a battery good .
Lots of people say they can get 2 or 3 days before a charge is needed , but in reality all they are doing is killing the memory of the battery
