Anyone having a socially distant street party?
We got a flyer through our door yesterday inviting everyone on our street to dress the front of their gaffs in red white and blue and have picnics in their front gardens.  Sod that, I'm gonna don my union jack knotted hanky, crack open the beers and crank up the boombox.  Lived here 2.5 years and never met more than our immediate neighbours.....they won't know whats hit em.  ;D

So, social distancing of sorts....................they'll never invite us again  :D

It’s a biggie. Maybe the most important event in the last century?
Most of my family were killed in the resistance.

Wonder how many right wing groups will be celebrating the end of fascism is Europe?

We ain’t working.

Respect, Ole.
We'll have a little celebration because we've not had much to celebrate recently.

Private back garden, eh? Get you, Biggles.
Have an ok time, mate. My Grandad was German, I've no hair to cut so I'll get half cut and look forward to Daz Moon's pictures.
I might even put the Euro '96 semi final penalty shootout on to cheer me up.

The "Union Jack" is flown from a ship - otherwise it's called a "Union flag"

All the British right wing will be celebrating victory over Germany 75 years ago. It’ll be a useful distraction.

I'll be celebrating the freedoms won on VE day by exercising my freedom to work.

To be fair, we could do with a distraction; though some of it is cringeworthy.

I wonder if we come out of our 'war' the way we came out of it 75 years ago and how long this support for the NHS will last?

Far fewer were bothering with the clapping at 8 last night on my street. The enthusiasm for it has reduced over the last couple of weeks. Stood on my front drive along with neighbours this morning to honor VE day silence at 11. Road was very busy with traffic. Perplexed look on most of the drivers faces as to what we were doing  😔

Was talking to one of my customers yesterday. She is a nurse at st James ( jimmys ) in Leeds . Worked there over 20 years . She had never seen it so quiet . First 2 weeks was busy , but they Coped quite well . Now she is on annual leave . Says there is nurses walking about with not much to do .

In the circumstances I’m sure the customers would understand, Daz had to get back home early to set up his drum kit😉

What a shame. Our road has been on the street every Thursday without fail. It’s still gathering momentum too, and rightly so.

Yep that was a few streets over, not the best idea for them really. It’s been getting slammed in the media for the last couple of days.
