Why do you need a 650 anyway? You work on your own don’t you? Or do you? You work smart, half the amount of work for a full days pay etc, etc.
Not a lot you of what you say adds up😂
-
From this and previous posts Nigel...... I think your insurers stitch you up like a kipper year on year!!😁
It never ceases to amaze me just what they tell you.😬🤐
-
Tell them how hot your water is NWH, like you tell your customers. They’ll be so impressed that they’ll insure you for free.

It's not right across the board if you're only carrying more than 650 litres.
-
I've just renewed the insurance on my Ranger and it went up by £10 - after they'd agreed to knock £48 anyway.

I seem to recall a few years back going for quotes and one insurer (was it Arriba! Arriba/Norwich Onion?) had a price hike for anything over 500 litres.

Yes that sounds about right, I was with them for a few years with no issues, then when I tried to renew they had moved the goalposts and wouldn’t cover me as I had a 650 litre tank at the time.
-
My quote this year is £469

My quote this year is £469
That sounds expensive , I have a 1000 ltr hot system and pole cover new for old if stolen and I pay £355 with Alexander swan
-
That was the best price I got with A-Plan that’s with Agias I think she said.
Mind you I have legal cover and replacement van with system in.
-
Mine sounds about right then because the cost of replacement vehicle with system bumps £125 on the premium.
-
Yes NWH....
Sounds about right for a replacement van and legal cover.
Still good to check around however I had a deer jump out and take out my front wing.
A Plan where brill.
Got a replacement van next day while work was done on other van.

Still with Gladiator Lee. £204 and includes carrying the tank and associated bits plus off road cover too.

I pay £75 extra for that cover , so not hugely different, total price then
-
i dont get why your insurance is so cheap?.....mine is around £500-£600 per year(i pay mine in one lump sum too!)for commercial van insurance fully comp including breakdown cover, legal aid, replacement vehicle, etc and i have over 9 years no claims and im 48 yrs of age......ive never been able to get it any cheaper than £500......my van is a 17 plate connect L2 240 limited with a 500L tank and hot system.......could it be because i live in a high crime area?
-
A totally pointless exercise trying to compare what you pay for your motor insurance with others, there are simply too many variables involved.... what excess you pay, what NCB you have built up, NCB protected, legal cover, courtesy vehicle, breakdown assistance, post code, make of vehicle, value of vehicle, how many miles you do, modifications to vehicle, how long you’ve been driving, age, claims made, where you park your vehicle, do you own another vehicle, etc etc etc.
-
Daz , sounds like you are a victim of the postcode lottery mate !
-
Mine has gone down 2 years in a row now , about £30 off each year and I’m not even changing companies!
Fully comp , full legal , courtesy van , breakdown, and the Mrs on it too !
Not even £300 a year ;D
-
£200 for me, 650l tank, been hit three times now once by an uninsured driver, been hit in the car too, claimed every time off others insurance. I’m now classed as high risk 😃

How do you work that out then, who’s insurance have you claimed off of if they weren’t insured.

I work on my own, use a 650 and on big residential days I can come very close to emptying it. Especially if mixed with one offs and other add on dirty jobs.
On commercials when you're doing 6+ hours non stop you might as well find a tap somewhere and start producing while you work as it will be gone before you finish the job.
Fast window cleaning requires fast flow. If you're working slower anyway you can get away with using less water. But then you'd be doing far less.
I think people like NWH understand the limiting factor in using less water. I sure do.

motor insurance bureau paid out (MIB) it’s like a pool of money insurers pay into.

On street parking can up your insurance as can living in a flat/apartment.
-
Axa £280 a year and no interest in a tank no matter the size (as long as the van can legally carry the weight) or if bolted in or not, this tank nonsense seems to be something that Sproggit and Silvester type insurance companies have started using to fleece guys (usually younger drivers) that cant really go to the more reputable insurance companies who wont insure them.
-
I can go to any insurance company I want I have maximum no claims etc,I use A Plan they say if you carry water for everyday use it’s a modification this has been talked about on here before, they only have a few that will take WPF Agias is the most competitive for them.
I wouldn’t just look at the price you can get insurance on anything if you don’t tick specific boxes on the form, bit different when you put a claim in though eh.
-
Never told my insurance anything lol.
Its strapped so not modified as far as I'm concerned.
I carry a 650, solo I use about 500 a day but always good to have a bit incase.
I don't mess about with flow, trying to save a few quid on water is a false economy. Controllers set to full, use as much water as you like, faster flow faster rinse, quicker I'm onto the next job.

It depends where you are in the country , on or off road parking ,crime figures for the area , and accident rate . Where I am all are low so it’s cheaper , I have one of my vans in another part of the country and it’s £150 more due to location ,and crime rate .

Really? Where is the van that costs £150 more to insure based?
