I don't take much cash really but want to take less.
What card readers have been found to be the most reliable and cheapest.
Thanks

We use SumUp (www.sumup.co.uk)
But we only use it for one off jobs, not really for regular customers. For regular customers we use GoCardless and bank transfer payments.

also sumup, never lets me down

I use iZettle (PayPal owned)
Not used regularly but both iZettle (1.75%, 2.5% when asking through invoice) and sumup (1.69%)offer card machine for £23 inc vat for new customers. I think it includes p&p. Takes me 30 to 90 seconds to take a payment, opening app, Input amount, take card and processing. Not let me down and 70% of my work is in the sticks. Worst case get a customers WiFi.
It’s worth having. Not sure if it works through double glazing??

We use iZettle.
Works really well, and for most customers its a bit of a talking point.
Has let us down once. We had a card reader that had very little usage, that just decided to stop working. The security on these things is massive, and one tiny fault, and it will close down permanently the card reader. You can't reset the reader once this happens. We never did find out why, but our card reader committed suicide. iZettle wanted to charge us full price for a replacement, but we pleaded lack of use, and got it for free.

Using Sumup over 2 years now, very happy with it.

I have sum up too. 2.75% per transaction charge which I just pass on to customer. Think it cost about €50 initially for the card reader

We use SumUp
And have 2 Air ones and the 3G one
I’d recommend the 3G reader as you don’t need your phone for it and easier to use imo

Stripe, it is an app on the phone. Works well for card present and card not present situations.

sumup too....transaction charge is 1.7% when out and about and i can take card payments over the phone using the the virtual terminal on the app(transaction fee is higher at around 3% though)
i use mine every week.....contactless limit has also gone up to £45 so less customers are having to tap in their PIN......
