Title: Cabin Fever anyone?
Post by: jo5hm4n on April 01, 2020, 02:06:25 pm
For those staying at home how are yall feeling?

First week for me was great!  Got up to date with lots of paperwork and other bits and pieces.
Second week did some upgrades on the van system and sorting stuff at home thats needed doing, still a good week!
Now into my Third week and whilst i have loads of things i am doing nearly all business wise, i am now really starting to lose track of time, days and my efficiency has completely gone out the window.  Yesterday i lost about 5 hours of time no idea what i was even doing!  I am starting to get fed up at home, the day is dragging on im completely fed up with tv aswell.

Genuinely missing cleaning windows.  Can't believe how much i am missing it.

Anyone else struggling a tad?

As for the fruit cake who was on here the other day saying police snipers should shoot window cleaners out working ( or some such rubbish). I would of thought that cabin fever is the least of his problems. 🤔

Fence post fever here.  I need some long thin coach bolts to attach a picket fence to those 1950s (?) concrete posts that have been strengthened with pebbles.

I haven't got any, but got everything else (wood, screws, nails, etc).

So I thought I'd drill into the concrete posts and fit a length of wood down them and attach the picket fence to the wood.

But drilling into that kind of concrete is a nightmare.  God didn't design pebbles to be drilled through.

I believe hardware stores are allowed to remain open. Go and buy some coach bolts. Or get some delivered.

There's none close by; only Wilcos and they won't have what I want.

We're back to work as normal as possible on Monday so I want to get it done before that.

I'm nearly there; just two more posts to drill into. :'(

You'll never drill in to a concrete fence post.

Its a lottery whether DIY shops will have the gear you need and its all click and collect for the time being.

I needed some sand and cement the other day, according to B+Q and Homebase those items are 'Essentials' so you cant get them from them at the moment. You can buy nightlights, Spider Plants and floor mops but you cant buy sand and cement. Mental.

I put out a request on the local FB page. When I got back from work there was a bag of cement on my doorstep.

I did, to a point anyway.  I had five to do; just a hole top and bottom.

Did the first two, top and bottom (8mm drill to get a plastic raw plug in).  Flipping hard work and stop/starting to let the drill and drill bit cool down.

Then did the tops of the next three; I could really lean into the drill because of the height they were; but the bottoms were impossible.

Luckily enough there was a big hole all the way through (that the coach bolts would've went through), so I whittled some wooden raw plugs with a knife and some rough wood and bashed them into the hole with a hammer and used them to secure the wood to.

I just had to saw off the excess wood sticking out of the hole.

Still not finished though.

Fred and Wilma's daughter did make them to be undrillable.

Course they will you, Blockhead. Go in and handle them to see if they Feelgood.
And it's Wilkos.
