I'm not a Tory. Would never vote Tory.
I thought he was doing ok until this week.
Shambles now.
-
Doing well.
It's a changing situation, tough to get everything right re advice to give.
-
he has been in power less than a year, yet he has had to deal with two of the countries biggest problems in history. He can be forgiven for a few mistakes.
-
He's out of his depth. It's not a time for a softly-softly approach. You only have to look at Spain and France a week ago to see what this country should do now to reduce the rate of spread. Last nights speech was a good example of how he's missed a chance to be truly decisive and opted for an ambiguous statement - and just look at how that has turned out on here nevermind out in the real world.
And after speaking to paramedics in Preston today you can see maybe where things are going - 130 staff short and not enough to cover and not ppe. The cuts are coming home to roost, in their words.
-
Shambles.
You're deluded if you think otherwise.

Shambles.
You're deluded if you think otherwise.
Can you give some clear specifics?

He's done great..................

He's out of his depth. It's not a time for a softly-softly approach.
The government says it's being science led by SAGE, the CMO and CSO.
What qualifications do you have that outweighs a whole team of scientists, many of whom specialise in epidemics?

And from that - done at a time when things were low risk - you think BoJo's whole handling of covid-19 - so far - is a shambles.
Haven't you anything better?

Shambles.
You're deluded if you think otherwise.
Can you give some clear specifics?
Take a look at the forum.
Clear as mud and everyone is bricking it.

That's just here; people are making up stuff and sharing fake news.
I've been providing gov guidance and links to things that gov ACTUALLY SAYS. You can take a horse to water but cannot make it drink.
Meanwhile new temporary 4000 bed hospital opening next week:

Look, everyone is emotional. It's a difficult time for everyone. Especially us.
All I want is clarity. Genuine leadership from someone I feel I can trust.
Boris is not it.

I think you’ll find the whole world is in the same boat Soupy. This isnt a ‘Boris’ thing.

Can you imagine Teresa May handling this?

Boris is not it.
Gov said it would pay your staff 80% of their wages if you furlough them.
People can work if they can do the 2 meter rule thing.
You should also be able to get loans/grants.
Tax bills deferred.
What is it you want clarity on?

f*** that.

Well, to prevent the usual forum- style pile on, I'll start by saying it's just my opinion. I'm not a scientist, or political commentator, or analyst or any other job that could be informing government opinion, it's just my opinion. The post alluded to asking for my opinion and I put it out there.
But then this is the same government that told us we didn't need to listen to expert opinion a few months back. And you can advise someone 'til you're blue in the face but they don't have to take your advice. Again, just my opinion, not SAGE, the CMO's or any other professionals... but the clarity was missing from last nights announcement, hence last nights and todays arguments on the forum. It needed a firm, black-and-white spelling out of who should be going to work and who should be stopping at home, with supporting info on government websites to make it crystal clear.

Listen wey eh bonzo, you can pretend that you're confident in what Boris has done and said so far but sreeds of social media posts from people decimating perfectly good businesses because of his poop show prove otherwise.

Although at least I think I could trust him.

. but the clarity was missing from last nights announcement,
I kinda agree with this, but I knew what Boris meant. Those that didn't, didn't listen and were using words like 'essential' which Boris didn't even use.
Within 24 hours it's been clarified, but the hard of listening still get confused.
But none of this means BoJo's doing a bad job. And to be honest, we won't know for certain till this thing progresses.
-

I don't think BoJo promised that every business would not fail. But I don't think many can disagree that he's thrown hundreds-of-billions at the problem.
Wor Little Un is currently on 'furlough'; not working, but still getting paid directly due to BoJo's policy. There are many like her.

Why are you ignoring him then?
Or at best interpreting what he said to suit yourself?

This is really clear and leaves nothing to interpretation:

Are you really still confused?
-
What are unclear specifics?
Just describing something as a 'shambles' without specifying why.
-
I think you’ll find the whole world is in the same boat Soupy. This isnt a ‘Boris’ thing.
We're NOT in the same boat. We've been able to see and observe what the rest of the World does, we're behind China, Italy,Spain, France . We've got MORE info than they got.
-
I agree with Soupy.
It's obviously not just Window Cleaner's that need clarity as the problem of self employed workers not knowing if they were allowed to be working was mentioned more than once today in the media.
It doesn't matter what Sturgeon said, Boris is our glorious leader and the yea or nay should come from him.
It's not just for us but also for the general public at large, so they don't sling rotten cabbages and tomatoes at us if we are out working.
Boris really should have been on the screen this afternoon clarifying this, in my opinion.

You've lost the plot, he was musing over "herd immunity". Things where not low risk when he said that, he's a fool a dangerous one.

What are unclear specifics?
Just describing something as a 'shambles' without specifying why.
That would be unspecified.

Yes, I wanted to know specifically what was shambolic.
There's a new 4000 bed hospital opening up next week. The NHS is getting strengthened with people from all over the shop. There's an NHS volunteer army being drafted in too.
Gov's throwing hundreds of billions of quid at the problem, some of which is benefiting my daughter who didn't lose her job because of it.
So what exactly is making it all shambolic?
Sure there's problems; there's going to be; but overall, it's not a shambles.

I'm not hysterical at all, i'm putting my spare time to good use. I'm suprised HMan didn't beat me to this but i've learnt how to make a homemade ventilator by fashioning a homemade stent out of a brass pencil jet using a small file, attaching some pole hose to it and tubing it into an old 5litre tfr tub using the cap and part of an old rubber glove as a one way valve . Me and the missus are having a laugh as we practice with it and she pushes down on the tub and watches my eyes bulge out my head. ;D
-
Why would the government be paying window cleaners wages at this point?
Apart from a bit of a murky speech last night it’s been cleared up now and is t really in doubt. We can work if we cannot work from home and can stay a safe 6ft from any other person.
This will probably change over the next week or so at which point you will get your 80%, but it’s not going to be paid for people that can and should be in work at this moment.
Back to the original post, he’s doing a decent job, the self employed issue should have been sorted before last nights lockdown but as long as it’s sorted this week I’ll forgive him.

I reckon Soupy's one of the Yes movement. Goes out at weekends dressed in a skirt with face paint on!🙄

Haha, seriously, look at the mess she made handling Brexit right from the very start she sold this country down the river. Electing a Remainer to fight the Brexit was a no brainer, idiotic to begin with!

How about the skirt Soups , can we just confirm either way ?

Not as often as Boris.

It's more of a pom pom.

I believe the government were a bit slow in implementing the social distancing guidelines. This should have been drummed into everyone at the onset of the virus. They should have had police / officials patrolling the streets with PA systems preaching the importance of social distancing, it should have been on the front page of every newspaper, mentioned on the news, mentioned on radio etc, etc. So much more could have been done at an early stage but the government were more interested in keeping the economy ticking over for as long as possible......that strategy seems to have backfired spectacularly and as a result the country will be counting the cost both health wise and financially for a long time.

It's been a tough week for the government there's no doubt. I'll admit I've probably been too harsh on old Alexander Boris De pfeffel Johnson. Probably panic, there's a lot of it about.
His briefing today was much better.
I think I've made the right call. I'll see how HMRC are at the end of April, not holding my breath but we'll see.

Must admit, you lads that employ have had some far more difficult decisions to make this week.
Let’s hope for some positive news from Rishi tomorrow.
-
By the look on his face today when self employed was mentioned he winced, tomorrow we will find out if we like him or not.

i think he's doing alright.
he's not ideal in some ways because when he talks he says stupid things and waffles.
last week swerving the Q about seeing his mum on mothers day was bad.
but in general he's being lead by experts and is taking decisive action.
i wish we had cameron, or obama, or blair... a better leader... but i thnk he's doing ok considering everything that is happening.
he's the right sort of the leader for the moment
thank god we haven't got dithering corbyn

I agree with most of that, however Boris has been forced to do many things Corbyn said he was going to do. Massive funding for the NHS, privatisation of the railways and so on.
