Title: I’m Now Thinking I should Have Gone To Work
Post by: Bungle on March 24, 2020, 09:38:33 am
I made my mind up last night to knock it on the head. I woke up at the usual time this morning and read the forums while having a coffee and cigarette. I decided that I was still staying off, so I went back to bed. I’ve just woke up and looked out the window and every fecker in the road has gone to work! I’m sat in bed typing this and in the distance is a main road. There’s traffic galore! WTF is going on? Have I dropped a b*****k?

No.
One of the reasons we might not be able to go to work is because every other fecker is going to work. If that makes sense?
Stop smoking. Save the NHS.

Showed workers this morning on tube , Full of people going to work.        There will be a Clamp down after seeing this.    They are in the public spotlight now.    I can see Construction sites having to close down because of this on TV .        He has to clarify NHS staff, Shopworkers , delivery drivers  Post . Council workers etc.          I know we need to go no where near people  when working, and we are a far distance from people.     We just are not Essential.        We just need help to get some sort of income to stop working.

Im  going to look around on sites now what I can claim.

We stopped work today - based on the statement by the PM last night - even tho im at a higher risk than a lot of people im not in a panic, more of a concerned type mode - my general attitude would be to carry on, however sensible pre cautions need to be observed - which as can clearly be seen is not happening - people crowding into pubs, or the seaside towns etc... you have the deniers like Dazmond who think they can do as they please, the Chris Turners of this world who post absolute sh!t and haven't got two brain cells to rub together - and a general core of selfish people who just won't listen or observe issued guidelines.

It was CLEARLY stated that we should stay at home UNLESS -  food shopping - require medical treatment or work is ESSENTIAL - I can't see by any stretch of the imagination window cleaning as essential - can you ?

Its about time people realised that they just can't do what they want when they want - think of the venerable ones - if you really need some human contact use FaceTime

No Bungle, you’ve done the right thing.
It’s only the selfish people that have gone cleaning or whatever today.
Like Darren said so clearly above.
Daz is a total bell end.  ( unless he was joking) !!!

I’ve got to go out and pick my lawnmower up from the repair shop this morning. And then try and get some shopping done if anything is left? I will have to use my van to go out. I bet people will think that bloody window cleaner is out working.

You haven't dropped a b*****k mate but many have...totally irresponsible, very simple and clear message last night was stay home, save the NHS and save lives. Really makes you look at people a lot differently something like this, if only they understood the knock on effect to someones loved one; this could be a child, parent or grandparent!

They phoned saying they’ll be closed for the foreseeable. I’ve paid over the phone and they will leave my mower outside for me to collect. Plus my lawn needs cutting  ;D

I have just seen a window cleaner put on Facebook, he is getting totally slated for being out working .

I was going to go today due to Boris not being overly clear , also Gov.UK is a bit sketchy too .

I do feel that if we work responsibly then going to the supermarket is more dangerous to the custies than us doing their windows .

I’m just going to hold off until we find out if we get the same backup as the employed , if so then it’s poles down

What about an 8 hour socially distant WFP workout?

My Mother and step Dad are high risk due to under lying health problems.  I can't physically see her in the flesh or dont want to risk it anyway. I can't tell you how ped off i would be if non essential folks went round their house  now to cut the grass or window clean social distancing or not.....we need to be careful not to damage hard worked for reputations (if we have them🙈)   that's all we have in the end.

I'll message customers thanking them for their continuing support through the years and hope to see them all when restrictions are relaxed. The health and well being of all my customers will be put first and although it will cause major disruption to the service they will be made to feel paramount. If you have the loyalty of them I think this will be a few months off and hopefully pick where we left off but in reality none of us know so with as many contacts as I have for my  customers I'll keep updating them on the situation.  Thered no guarantees in life I've never been in a position like this where your asked to put everyone else life/health above our need to make a living.  I also think that the first bank that tries to evict or repossess would bring the wrath of the nation due to the current situation so personally I think those with mortgages and rent at least for this short stretch or even if it goes another few months in my opinion should be ok. It is only my opinion tho. Hope we all come through this ok guys.....and charge extra for those first cleans again  ;)

I put a message on my Facebook telling everyone iv closed for the foreseeable, also txt every customer.the support iv got is amazing, everyone understands and has thanked me and says see you as soon as possible- we aren’t going anywhere! A few customers have said they will keep their standing order going. It’s been a difficult morning but I feel so much better for it . It’s morally the right thing to do, short term loss long term gain

Ventured out to the local shop for some essentials.

Drove past a retail park on the way, full of people.

There was a b&m a range and a b&q all open. People still swanning around the town centre.

Saw a group of chavs hanging out on a corner.

No one gives a feck, starting to think I dropped a bollock also.

The trouble is as usual , nothing has been made clear enough .
I was ready to clean today but did not in the end .

The new housing estate site opposite my parents house is biz as usual , the glass factory up the road is still open .

And my Mrs has a friend who lives in a nice house at one of the local beaches .........
And guess what .... the beach is packed  :o

We have closed for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately 10 of my chaps are Self Employed Franchisees, they are advised to "Park" all debt, gain access to "Short Term Cash" via Overdraft or Loan and wait for further notice - I've seen a draft "Bill" due to go through the "House" providing  support to the Self Employed in the same vain as the "Job Retention Scheme" - they need to HURRY UP!

Understand and hope that our employees are covered by the "Job Retention Scheme" - Time will tell.

I stress that it's "hopefully" a short term issue, we'll still have a job/business to return to, in the meantime we need to do all we can as a Society to get through this SAFE & Fast.

Keep well.

Just seen this Darren.
You know I have always had respect for you but not any more.
Tell me, how do you know I'm posting sh!t?
Do I often come on here and make up a load of bo!!ocks like certain other members?
How have you come to the presumption that I'm posting sh!t? Also where is your proof of my lack of brain cells? Please give specifics, really.
I nearly posted the full transcript of my conversation with said person earlier, as I hate being called a liar. I decided not to because if it gets shared on social media etc then I could get in the sh!t and so could he.
All I can say Darren is that if you truly believe I'm talking "sh!t", then I truly hope it comes back and bites you in the a$$.

This is about what is Moral not what you need to earn
Morally right is putting the need of others above the needs of yourself.
Stay home now and get this extinguished or go to work and keep this situation for months.

I read this on another forum. I think it sums it all up for us really. For me working today would’ve been like turning up for work on a Sunday and thinking it was ok to do so.

I went out for 2 hours, all my customers were ok for me to clean the windows and pay by bacs. I started to get some strange looks from other people like I was doing something wrong, it made me feel very on edge and guilty like I was doing something wrong .

I was intending to carry on but then some **** shouted out of his car that I should be at home.
After that I started to feel worse, everyone was at home and some family’s in there gardens.

I just couldn’t carry on.
So I went home.

Prior to Boris with his announcement to shut the country yesterday, I had phoned/text customers to say I would be around today. Although I have practised social distancing right from the very start along with hygiene and wearing disposable gloves and staying away from loved ones as one of the first cases in Devon happened to be one of my customers.
I waited until this morning at a sociable time to inform them I would follow the governments plea to stay at home and that window cleaning has been postponed for at least three weeks. Everyone was fine about it.
I wouldn't feel right working with everyone playing their part by staying at home isolating themselves. I have loved ones who I have stayed away from for the past four weeks so a bit longer won't hurt, just want them all to stay safe, healthy and in good spirit.
