Government have just announced that all employees will be paid 80% of their monthly salary (upto £2500 per month max) by the government.
Also the next VAT payment to be deferred for atleast 3 months.
Not such great news for the self employed though. Just access to the equivalent of SSP £90 p/w

Self assessment deferred til January 2021!
-
Yup. SA payment defered. I like that.

Yup. SA payment defered. I like that.
Still need to pay it at the end of the day. Large bills in 2021
-
I view it as an excellent series of measures.
It means our customers will be far far more likely to be able to afford our services. It is all good news.
-
I think we will be seeing a lot of cash in hand going on lol. Self-employed haven't been helped that much in reality. But every little helps i suppose.

You better get out and do some graft then.
We’re in this together, shut up whining, earn some dosh, pay your tax, that way we’re helping in the effort.

Yep. I always put my tax money away at the end of each month and strictly don't touch it. So I will be paying my bills on time anyway.
It does not help I'd we are forced to self isolate.
Pleased for the rest of the workforce, as mentioned earlier, it helps us too.

I think Rishi Sunak’s speech was better than Boris’s

Oh really?
You didnt go out today and work then?
You need to educate yourself. The issue regarding keyworkers is which children should be retained at school and which are not to attend.

I don't understand the system, but doesn't that give you access to other benefits?
-
But thats the whole point of this your not supposed too unless your a keyworker.
Yes, you can go out to work, if you cannot work from home. And have no reasons to self isolate.

And commercial customers not closing down.

I’m happy with the July payment being deferred but like you say it’s still got to be paid,I wonder how many people won’t have put that by when January comes lol.

Think he means if and when we go to full lock down, not the mild lock down. If we go to full lock down that will include us.
I know we will all lose a proportion of trade as businesses close, but we are lucky we can keep going the best we can. That's the joy of running our own busness.
-
I still think full lockdown is imminent. This is all part of the process. To introduce all measures at once would create mass hysteria and panic ( worse than it is now ). Financial safegarding of our future economy was crucial. This is preparation for the inevitable.

Yes, that's what I meant Jester, it's like originally shutting pubs etc people were asked to not go but eventually because people still were they had to force it . They really only want the keyworkers out working and everyone else to stay at home, but at the moment that's not being enforced but could change if they feel people aren't doing that either. Slacky hasn't educated himself on that part yet tho ;D

Yes i did go out to work and will do every day I'm allowed to, fully educated on the keyworker situation but thanks for your input :-*

Bit of a kick in the nuts for me. Recently dissolved my 11 year old LTD company to trade as self employed. I couldn’t have done that at a worse time. 😬

So why are you saying you can't go to work unless you're a keyworker? Seems a silly thing to say if that’s not what you mean.
That's the bit I highlighted in orange.

That’s my thinking exactly. London and the big cities would riot if they introduced a locked before getting everything in place.
-
Yeah a lock down is coming very soon.
Within a week or so i reckon.

Ok perhaps worded slightly wrong, but I didn't say you cant go out to work but they would prefer if you didn't unless you are a key worker, they dont want you to go out to work and interact with others unless you are providing a valuable service in fighting this virus or helping the public get through it.
Hence all these packages to help the people that are currently affected and ones like us that could soon be to pay basic bills and get by.
We are lucky at the moment that our job can be done with very little interaction with other people but its certainly not important to the government only us to earn a living. But if your job did (for instance cleaning companies that do a lot of internal cleaning) then you couldn't go out to work unless you are in the list of key workers.

It has to be that way. A head in the sand approach will not work. The sooner the better and the sooner we can start to recover.
-
Only second guessing but i think once all these benefits announced tonight are out there and available to claim and people receiving them then a lock down will probably happen for a little while.

How do we get that mate, have u got a link to where it says about this

Through universal credit I think mate, I’ve never claimed it so I can’t be sure but someone has just posted this on FB.
