Title: Tight hip flexors. Interesting observation.
Post by: zesty on March 11, 2020, 05:44:56 pm
Does anyone else find they get tight hip flexors from window cleaning. (Wfp)

I find because of the sideways position we stand, my right hip flexor is tight, left also to a lesser extent.

I roll it out in the gym, does the job.

It took me a while to work out what I was doing that caused it.

Then, whilst in the kitchen, I mimicked the movement we do when polling, and felt my right hip flexor, it was tight, and being ‘used’ to steady the body in that position.

It doesn’t really bother me, (stretching and rolling it out does the job) I just wondered if anyone else has experienced the same?

CIU disclaimer:

Before anyone chimes in with ‘go to the gym’ etc, already do, fit and healthy, strong  legs and upper body. It’s got nothing to do with strength, and absolutely everthing to do with repetitive movement and body position. 😎

Yep. Me too. And a bad back and tight hamstrings. All from the stance cleaning windows I think.

Interesting isn’t it, the way we stand isn’t the best position for the body.

Needs must!

Oh, and I also have tight hamstrings, but that’s partly from all the football I used to play (sprinting) and not stretching enough!

Funny thing is even when I was playing football I never got tight hamstrings once. Only started in my mid to late thirties when I switched to wfp from trad.

Yeah I think I my hamstrings would be much more ‘supple’ if I’d stretched them regularly.

It’s my hip flexors that I can feel though, very tight, and need rolling out daily!

Yep. Me too. First five minutes on the motorcycle is murder. Have to stand up on the pegs.

All I can say is that I’ve had this and it went on for about 3 years, the solution for me was all about the hamstrings knee-ankle-shin pain was all down to very very broom handle tight hamstrings.
The best exercise I found was a full stretch try to touch your toes with the leg out to the side as a good warm up,the ultimate stretch if you can manage it is to try slide your leg up the side of a doorframe with your heal facing the ceiling, point the heal and hold the stretch for 3-4 seconds and do this on each leg for around 15 reps.  At the start you won’t be able to straighten your leg if you aren’t supple but if you can do this for a couple of weeks every day your lower back and hip pain will be gone,I wish I’d known years ago Osteopath’s have had holidays out of me.
