Title: Never known windows as dirty ever
Post by: NWH on March 09, 2020, 04:24:05 pm
As I say I have never cleaned windows over a period of 3-4 months that have been so bad, dirt ground into the glass almost.
I did a job last week with hot water not on full heat though when I looked round after there were brush strokes and bits missed galore had to do them again with the temp up,not knocking cold users but if you are being honest and the windows are similar with this weather we’ve had  you must have struggled if you’ve looked back over your work and thought oh dear.
I was almost a bit paranoid today scrubbed the hell out of some.

I’d suggest you check your (probably poor) technique rather than trying to have a sly dig at those using cold only.

I’ve cleaned 3 nursing homes, outsides then insides, over the last week and whilst they were dirty my cold system has cleaned them without a single issue. I know this because I checked the externals whilst cleaning the internals.

Your obviously just not very good if you can’t clean to a good standard, stop blaming equipment.

No problems whatsoever on my 4 weekly regular maintenance work, all cleaned with cold water without any issues, less frequent cleans get an extra once over. If as you say there are “ missed bits galore “ that is down to user error and not equipment....yeee haaaa!

Yep they’ve been really bad even with a flocked brush. Usually one side of the property only.

There has been something very dirty in the rain during the last couple of storms.  And does seem worse on one facing side.

All the stormy weather has definitely made them worse than usual the last time they were this bad was after the beast from the east  ;D
All my monthly work isn't that bad though and did a new one today that's not been cleaned since it was built it was filthy but it came up like new.
The customers were in during the clean and were very happy with it and yes I used cold  ;D I tend only to use the immersion if its really cold as frost protection or if I have a few new ones booked to clean on the same day.

i can honestly say ive had a cracking day today.....one of my best ever earning days......all cleaned between 9am-2pm just before all the wind and rain! ;D

if the windows are really that dirty you should be using virosol as well IMO......i use it for very dirty first cleans and it works a treat.....

Could be right although I’ve done some bang on and down here in the south they are very dirty on everything I’ve cleaned.

I think many on here don’t check them after cleaning, there’s no way they are coming up clean with the usual splash and dash round my way.

I remember the huge storm in Oct 87. I was trad then and remember the incredible amount of muck it left on the windows, much of it a greasy salty residue. I also remember the extra work I had to put in to get the glass up to my usual standard even with soap, water and a blade.
So it’s not surprising that we might have to put in extra work after these storms, but I can’t say that I haven’t been able to get a good finish using just cold water.

I read your initial post earlier.
You’ve since edited it to tone down the cold water user attack you had posted in the first place.

Why?
Because ‘Deeege’ shot you down in flames straight away?

This is what I’m saying last week I thought they looked fine I went round and checked they were awful, embarrassingly so if I’m honest.

most windows are dry when ive cleaned a property, esp if its a large house and it takes me a while to clean them......or if  its hydrophilic glass im cleaning (some are dry within a few mins)so i give them a quick check...absolutely fine.....

I don’t spend much time checking windows, I leave that to the customers and if if they weren’t up to standard I’m sure they would let me know.

Why would you check them?

For a start you are wasting time on every job going round checking them. Then if you spot any problems you are going to re clean them which takes more time.  And what's to say if they didn't turn out right the first time they are going to be better after you've re done them?.  Not only that but you are going to start being paranoid on every job.

I just clean them, post a slip and bugger off as quick as possible. If people start complaining I know I'm doing something wrong. But I can't remember the last time I had a complaint... Its been a few months.

Wfp is never going to be 100% perfect everytime, there's lots of factors why a clean could turn out less than perfect but having ocd about it to that level wont help.

I’ve not noticed any difference in the level of dirt on the windows.

I don’t really think about it, unless it’s a first clean and inevitably dirty.

I agree with Adam, I never check windows, I’ve always been long gone by the time they’re dry. Unless it’s a large commercial job in the summer.

I think the main issue here is .... you still can’t clean windows properly. You used to blame cold water for not cleaning your windows properly, so you got your water so hot that it cracks glass ... and they are still dirty  ;D

I’m running about 2 weeks behind atm, due to having to wait until I got the new van, and I have noticed the windows are slightly dirtier than usual, but that’s down to the amount of wind and rain we have had, rather than me being late.  I’m not spending any more time than usual unless they are really dirty.

I never usually check them I had a customer say to me can you look at these round the back before you go tell me if it’s inside, when I looked it was outside.
Only these last few months they’ve been way dirtier than normal in the south, some are like a first clean.
