Title: Hypo Surfactant
Post by: Innocence & Experience on February 19, 2020, 08:06:22 pm
HELP!
Got a soft washing job tomorrow - Patio - just realised i've run out of my usual sufactant (Bonnymans), do you think i'll get away with just using Hypo with water or is it safe to add something like washing up liquid?

I only ever use hypo with water for patios , I would only use a surfactant for render or walls.

Thanks SB Cleaning, think I’ll stick with just hypo & water then - reading some scary things about using washing up liquid!

Someone nearly gassed themselves using Persil instead of Fairy or maybe it blew up. But it wasn't good.

Found it -

Daniel Hughes Worst accident to date, very lucky I still have 👀.
I mixed hypo with cheap dishwasher soap (not same as usual)
The cheap one on offer at time was “Persil dishwasher soap” never seen it before or after.
Mixed it up in barrel and it did a menthos coke style explosion.
Hot frothing hypo straight up , knocked my helmet & goggles straight off 10 feet in air , went up my nose down my throat, through my eyes 👀 down jacket, everywhere.
I actually thought I was going to be blind.
Took hosepipe from van and rinsed my face and eyes as I drove to a&e
Nurses rinsed my eyes out with 3 saline bags to bring ph down.
Not funny

Hypo and washing up liquid can be carcinogenic , it’s also illegal to mix anything with hypo that’s not designed to be added to it  , and it’s easy to produce mustard gas if adding the wrong things
