Theres quite a few active groups on FB about tool theft from vehicles, the victims usually seem to be trades who use power tools.
Has anyone here ever had their vehicle broken in to and had their window cleaning gear nicked?

So what happened there exactly?
Left his van unlocked whilst at a customers?
They peeled the doors at night?
Nicked the van?

My van was broken into just last week
I say broken into, the side doors were both open when I came down in the morning but no damage to the van and nothing had been taken.
I have a citroen dispatch and it is ridiculously easy to pop the side doors open with basic tools or even I believe your hands!
All that's accessible from my doors is the tank and barrels up against the bulk head so I guess they didn't see anything they fancied.
Im putting chains round the door handles whilst it's not in use over Christmas but I will have to get some deadlocks fitted at some point.
If anyone has a dispatch/expert/scudo 2007 to 2016 get some deadlocks fitted... check this video out.

This isn't window cleaning gear ??? ??? ???
-
I never said it was !
-
I know but I asked if people on here had their window cleaning gear nicked.
-
Ah I see , you only wanted to know about window cleaning vans !
I don’t suppose they get hit as much as it’s probably quite hard to move a pole on , where as dewalt and makita is no problem!

Just for you Slacky ;D

Pressing the fob lock button twice should deadlock it. Try it with sitting in the van. You press it once, you can open the locks from inside, press it twice rapidly, the sound changes and you no longer can open it from the inside. However, not sure if it makes it less easy to open the side doors or not, I reckon it does help.

Apparently just as easy!

I’ve been the victim of a couple of attempts on my WFP gear. Both failed thankfully, one due to the alarm and the other due to the fact that I’d parked my car too close to a wall and the thieves couldn’t get my new SLX out through the rear quarter light. Had to pay for the repair to the vehicle of course. I don’t leave anything of great value in the vehicle now even when I’m at home for lunch.
When I was still a ladder user I lost three sets of ladders within two minutes once. I’d removed them from my car whilst washing it and stood them within a few feet of the car. Went indoors to get a fresh bucket of water and visit the loo. When I came out they’d gone. The thieves must have been watching me and were so quick I never heard a thing.

I had a dodgy earth on one of my indicators. My mechanic had a spare Dispatch - for scrap - in his garage but the van was all deadlocked and the battery flat. He wanted to break in to take the light cluster electrics for my van.
So we both tried to break into the van using that method.
We couldn't do it.
In the end we got in through climbing over the seats (there was no cab partion barrier) and got at the light cluster that way, after a failed attempt at booting the back doors open from inside.

Someone tried to break into my van and I caught them, give them a bloody nose with one punch haha , never seen them again, my brother's a copper and I'm ex army, that's the difference, A smack in the mouth works, taking them to court doesn't.

Apparently it's the rear doors' sensors that trigger. If there is no power you cannot do that trick. Usually people disconnect the light door sensor. But don't put the keys in the back as the doors will lock again in 30 sec.
Just been reading but apparently the door lock barrel can just be popped out so advised to superglue it in place and also disconnect the central locking button on the console.
It's shocking how easy it is to break into these vans.

Surely you should move to a less crimey area?

Around here 'waves' of house and vehicle break-ins happen. It's almost like there's a group of people who travel around doing this kind of stuff, area by area.

I had my van done in ikea its a expert van, same scenario side door . you can de activate the central locking by taking the switches off the door pillers its a 2minuet job. as for the dead locks don't waste your money I had some fitted on my van it was broken into a second time different place because I had those locks fitted at a cost of 450 quid they caused 600 quids worth of damage new door repaint etc.i took them off instead I got an alarm and a inertia flashing light to hope fully deter any further attack.
