right I am in the market for a new waterfed pole. 22ft carbon fibre I have used gardeners for years and never bothered looking any where else really, so.. not that there is any thing wrong with there product just fancied a change any one got any recommendations
-
Think the best 2 poles in my opinion are the xtreme and the phantom himod.
Clamps wear the pole less on the phantom poles and you don’t get the dreaded black hand from the Carbon wear however I do think the gardiner clamps are smoother in operation.
There’s also that ova8 pole but Ive read some comments about them wearing quite badly now they’ve been out a year or two and some say the clamps feel cheap!
-
There's quite a few on the market now but all of them are more expensive for the equivalent of an slx and having spoke to a few widow cleaners who use the phantoms and ova 8s etc they all have their own issues.
I see no reason the switch from gardiner although I have been tempted.

Ova 8,I have used Gardiner poles for years, very good poles but the Ova 8 is UNBEATABLE.

i know a window cleaner whos got one,to be fair it seems a good solid pole but its far too heavy to use day to day compared to my xtreme 25.....

im just used to working with lighter/more rigid poles.......

I find theres not alot of difference in weight,if any between my Ova 8 25 and Slx 25,your mate must have one heavy brush head attached.

Daz uses extremes, not SLX's. Much lighter but not so strong and hard wearing. I go even further. My everyday pole is my very own unique Extreme 20.

yes he had a heavy brush on the end,i think it was an xline brush....i just buy a new xtreme 25 pole every year now,sod the cost,it makes every working day so much easier than any other pole

If it ain't broke why fix ?
I change my takeaway order from time to time for a bit of variety. But why would I want to do that with an essential work tool that I rely on daily ? Unless you're unhappy with it I'd stick with what I know. G's customer service is great plus every possible spare part is available when needed.

Been using the phantom 18 pole for a Month now feels lighter than other brands been using Gardiner poles 12 years
Loving the Phantom pole but time will tell clamps may ware quicker than Gardiners

Weight isn't everything. A slightly heavier pole that is more rigid would be easier to use. If it's fragile then it's also less reliable.
Balance is the key, what are the most important factors to you and which pole has the best balance of those factors.
I would think that most full carbon poles on the market today are pretty decent but it may be worth bearing in mind which brushes and accessories you wish to use- who makes them and will they fit that pole?
For example-
I couldn't work without a well functioning
swivel below 30ft so that would be an absolute necessity for me.

Spot on pal sod the cost, lighter poles are worth paying the extra for with how much extra you make not wearing your bones out!
When I think about how much my daily earnings went up since I bought an xtreme 2 years ago they pay for themselves in no time so I don’t think £500-600 every 12-15 months for an xtreme 22-25 etc Is a lot to pay in the greater scheme of things.

Exactly had my extreme 18 since beginning August last year and still going strong and the extreme 25 a couple of months later my 25 may get used a couple of times a so will probably last for lots of years.

£500 a year for poles is insain... what a waste of money... ive been using my phoenix carbon for 5 years now and only replaced the top section twice...

im still left with around £30k profit EVERY YEAR after ALL expenses/tax/insurances,new xtreme pole, etc and thats working a 30 hr week(including admin, debt chasing, cleaning the van, changing resin,etc).......it works out at £10 a week......
-
Just think Daz you could get a heavier slx for half the price and knock that down to £5 a week😂😂
its working smart and your looking after your joints etc using lighter poles in my mind, I’d happily wear a pole out than wear my shoulders out.
-
£500 insane lol how much does your pole earn you work that out and then you might realise that without the pole you won’t earn,a lighter pole earns you more money I know that much the lighter the pole the more you can just keep on working. Worth another few jobs a day a very light pole easily money well spent and if looked after last as long as any other pole,I only use extreme poles and they last me ages I would never give a staff member 1 though for day to day I have an extreme 35ft and it’s not in the same class as the shorter versions of the exact same pole,it’s very Whippy you have to clamp well before the tapes if you want it to be stable that pole

Agreed.
I get over 2 years from my extreme everyday pole but I but new clamps at about 12/15 months.
My last one (after I bought my present one I took the top three sections and replaced the top sections of my old style extreme 47 which had stepped sections)

Ova 8,I have used Gardiner poles for years, very good poles but the Ova 8 is UNBEATABLE.
so, what makes it unbeatable ?

The no spinning of the top section on ground floor work would be better with the Ova pole, not seen one though I’d give 1 a go if they were as light as an Extreme.
-
Has anyone seen the video of the worn ova8 poles, they’re absolutely shocking!
