Window cleaning warehouse usually do something like 24% off for 24 hours etc every year and I think last year or the year before they sold a load of old Phoenix poles off very cheap, seem to remember half of them being on eBay the following days lol

Don't know how it works for window cleaning but in the real world i.e. retail usually anything on Black Friday is stuff that is old stock or something which they just want to offload nothing current or new or good is discounted that much.
The profit margin is way below 20% how can something be discounted to 20% imagine those losses.. why would you make something to lose so much money just to sell it.its hype most times imo

It's called a loss leader.

I worked in retail many years ago and quite often they would sell an item at cost or even a slight loss in order to attract customers.

I remember in particular selling bikes at cost price with the hope of then up selling accessories with them.

Its only like us offering a free clean to draw  someone in, in the hope they go onto be long term customers.

Probably best looking on Ebay for second hand gear then.....if u want dirt cheap

I dont need anything equipment wise, I'm sorted for the next 10 years(at least)I reckon(apart from consumables like poles, connectors, resin, brushes, etc)

Agree to some extent but i got mainly spares and saved 10-20% as they're not the cheapest to start off with whom I was shopping with.

I think the mark up on most of the stuff we buy is a lot more than 20%.
