Title: one for the grammar experts
Post by: p1w1 on September 11, 2019, 06:23:35 pm
Should you use capital letters when writing "window cleaning" in sentences
eg, We offer a window cleaning service or  We offer a Window Cleaning service
is there a right or wrong way ?

I would say Window Cleaner as it's an occupational name.   Then window cleaning as it's a verb.

I think technically, it should be lower case (not capitals) and if it is part of a sentence, then I would keep it that way.

If it's part of a heading on a leaflet, then I would use initial caps (every first letter is a capital letter), to add emphasis and to make it easier to read.

I used to do graphic design, copywriting and proof reading for a living.

If you have something to be proof read, send it to me at robinsonswindowcleaning@gmail.com and I'll be happy to have a look it for you.

If in the middle of a sentence, then it should be lower case. If it's part of your business name, ie S Mears Window Cleaning, then it's upper case.

No need to thank me. You're (not your) welcome!

John.
