this is aimed at the guys that say they DONT work in the rain.......how on earth do you manage not to? ::)roll
this morning......its raining here and forecast for most of the day.....
last week it rained most of thursday and friday morning, some days i might be 3 hours into my work schedule for that day and it rains for the next 2 hours......what do you do?go home? ::)roll
ive got 3 commercial jobs to clean this morning(offices),2 domestic jobs and a UPVC clean on a large house this afternoon....theyll get cleaned in the rain regardless as usual......
-
I feel for you flat out full time guys Dazmond, I work around 20 hours a week and if I only get 15 hours done this this week which is rare doing 25 next week is no big deal, up your prices, keep control of your expenses, stop wasting money on nonsense that's not needed, you could then cut back on your hours and avoid the need to work in all sorts of weather.

i still need to work in the rain.....if i had your attitude id never get any work cleaned!im off on holiday in 3 weeks so even more important to keep to schedule..... :D
-
Im with you on this one Daz, i can't understand how they can keep to schedule either.
-
I don’t know how they do it either ??? I was going to take today off to start working 4 days instead of 5. Today Iv got a customer who’s sold their 800k house that wanted one last clean, and 2 well paid gutter jobs . If only I could learn how to say no, I could be chilling out watching Lorraine on itv like the rest of the window cleaners who don’t work in the rain :'( ;D
-
I usually just get on with it as it's never as bad as it seems but today or at least this morning I'm taking off as it's been heavy all night. It was an early start yesterday with the kids for a charity event then took them to a theme park, then had to unload the pw gear from Friday and put the poles etc back in so it was late before I sat down. Also had the wee man kicking lumps out me last night so I've got more of an excuse than the rain.
-
I’m going to the gym for a couple of hours posing.
-
Did the school runs and now warm and dry in bed !
I will have to pop out at some point to get the heater build under way

In answer to your question, simple, we have the day off. Sod the schedule. Who cares?
Maybe we’d do some commercial if it was drizzle but it’s proper lashing down in the south west today. Very rare it rains all day though as you know. But i think today is one of those days.
Sometimes I’ll send employee out to clean some insides or fascia if we’ve got any on but wouldn’t expect him to work outside all day in this all day even in waterproofs. Not good for morale.

LOL, Dazmond only guy on here who is worse than you is Nathan K, he's another so called part timer who only ever seems to work when its raining, minus ten or a bank holiday, even when I worked longer hours I could always catch up when the weather was bad.
-
I’m SW too , it’s horrible here , lightening later they reckon
-
If I wanted a 5 day week 9 to 5 job Id apply for one, not joking in all the years Iv been at this job Iv only witnessed one shiner working in heavy rain, he looked miserable and fed up, it doesn't surprise me that I haven't seen him about in a while.
-
Not even raining here.
I guess if I lived in a council flat with your debts Dazmond then I might go out, work then brag about my earnings when I got home but I don’t.
Routine doesn’t rule my life, I don’t need it and don’t like it, I like to chill be spontaneous, every day different.

It always amazes me how today in 2019 a little bit of water from the heavens can stop play!

My missus has gone to greece with her mum as a special treat......some mum time. Went last week n wont be back till thursday.
So thats 3 little kids and at the same time im redecorating the house as a suprise for her. With my sleep pattern, that means during the night when the kids are in bed, haha its one way to get tired tho.
Im glad there at school as my littlest starts nursery today. So im working like a mad man to knock of even earlier than normal to beat all the school run traffic back on the rds. Then sort all usual family stuff out, before going back to decorating tonight (wallpapering lol)
Working in the rain is like a bleeding holiday in comparison!
-
How you going to find time to decorate your house in week whilst you got all that going on? Bet that'll look nice! ;D
-
It's great when you can afford not to work in the rain......tried it, didn't like it and neither did my customers.
-
Raining on and off here but just plodding on. I don’t NEED to work in the rain but I’d only be sat at home anyway so I WANT to work.
Taking Friday off also for a weekend in the mountains so that’s giving me extra motivation today.
I’d rather be the one that dictates when I have time off, not let the weather dictate for me.
-
Soaked already and hardly started.
-
Unless it’s stormy weather I usually just keep going.
I’d rather keep on track with work, and then I can take days off in the good weather and do something. Rather than being stuck in the house eating biscuits and drinking tea.
Unless of course I want to have a lazy day. Then I eat ALL the biscuits.
-
I’ve been working a bit in it today, did 3/4 quarters of the round, will do the rest tomorrow.
To be honest, I can take it or leave working in the rain 😎

After 27 years will I ever learn?
Was raining heavy first thing, looked set in & according to forecast. Sent my employee home on full pay. Soon as he got in his car it cleared up. Hasn't rained here since. ::)roll
I can't get in the mood unless I get out first thing. Why oh why do I listen to a weather forecast even when it looks like rain everywhere ?!

I learnt from that lesson some years ago. Ive not watched the weather forecast for several years and dont expect i ever will.
The van has a spare supply of a dry work top, jumper and my rain coat is always in there.

i worked 9am -130pm so 4 hours work(30 mins for lunch),the first 2 hours in the pouring rain! ;D...ironically enough my hourly rate for the first 2 hours worked out at £68 per hour so i didnt mind getting wet.... 8)
home and dry now and i can chill out until i go collecting for an hour at 630pm..... ;)

yep i used to do the same...now i just go out and work in it......the only time ill listen to the forecast and reschedule is if its a "named" storm coming in.....the weather guys are usually pretty accurate with these.....
even i have my limits.......2 fridays in the last 11 weeks have been wash outs(prolonged heavy rain and strong winds)..i dont tend to work in that sort of weather.......so what i did was load a few extra jobs on the other days so i could have these 2 fridays off and the weathermen got it bang on....

I played on the ps4 & watched a film so not all bad.

im gobsmacked Daz!
you only do part time hours (so you say) so a bit of wet stuff in the morning is hardly going to screw up your "schedule"
on that note how often on here do I here you say - I clean when I want not when the customers want me to - I just turn up as I want to - that's hardly having a schedule...
and NO we never clean windows in anything more than very light rain - and we have never been more than 2 days behind our schedule
have a great holiday Daz!

well i was away last week on holiday and since i am 2 weeks behind as it is i figured another day off wouldnt make much difference so i sacked today off.
Generally i will work in anything, like you say how can you not really

That doesnt sound very profitable sending employees home at the first sign of rain.
I would have thought when employing its even more vital to work in all weathers, after all you are not a charity.

you send them home - you don't pay them

it would still have a knock on effect though if i went home every time it rained(or not go out at all because of rain first thing in the morning)......
i like routine...in fact i thrive on it.....so i keep to my schedule as much as possible come rain or shine......
-
At the end of the day who gives a crap if you work in the rain or dont, as long as you have work when you want to then all is good. even if its a 800k house not sure what difference that makes ;D

each to their own i agree but i find it hard to just have the day off or go home because its raining,i like to get my work cleaned so i have free time for chilling out,hobbies,family,etc....

Like i said Gomo, it’s very rare it rains all day. I just had a slip up today thinking it was one of those days where it was unmissable once it came in. Hands up i got it wrong today. No big deal. He could have been sat in the van until 4pm odd if the forecast had been correct. I don’t find that fair on him. I should have ignored it like i usually do. I assure you it is profitable. It was just one day.
Smudger, I would never dream of getting my employee to make up time at the weekend as I think you do?
Each to their own though I guess.
I don’t think Pryor’s work in the rain & that’s good enough for me.
-
I'll happily work in light rain, but when it gets heavy, I don't like getting soaked and I don't enjoy it at all!
Also I think working in heavy rain doesn't send the right message to my customers. We all know that heavy rain can bring down the muck from the roof and the gutters and could cause problems.
I earn enough money that I don't have to work in heavy rain and with a bit of careful planning, I rarely get problems.
That's the best bit about this job, we can all decide how we want to play it. For instance, i'll happily work a Saturday morning. Mrs window cleaner likes to do all the food shopping on a Saturday morning...and I don't!
-
Oh the irony...Daz starts a thread wondering how people manage without working in the rain, how efficient his round is, how much he earns......then tells us he’s going collecting😂😂

both on lease but its just another bill to pay every month...its not a "debt"as such like thousands owed on loans or credit cards,etc.......

i used to spend at least £500 a month on drink, drugs and cigarettes, now it goes on a van and golf GTD...... ;D

I think this thread once again shows that Daz lives in an alternative universe from the rest of us😱😱😱😁

it's still a debt - but much better than the fAgs and drink

Just the mind altering drugs to go.

much better......when i get comments from some of the wasters/drug addicts and alcoholics that are my neighbours i just simply say id rather have a nice van and car than the drink/drugs these days.......they then walk away in silence..... :D

It was forecast heavy rain all day here yesterday so I told my employee not to bother coming in yesterday. However at around 1030 the rain eased off and eventually stopped an hour later so I called my employee then we both went out and almost did a full days earnings! My motto is as long as there are enough days in the month to get my work in I shouldn't need to have to work in the rain though if its almost the end of the month and I'm behind then I will work in the rain!
-
Laugh all you want guys but when Dazmond is working in the rain he's reducing his purified water costs and earning at the same time, its a win win.

Just to let you know guys, I will be adapting the umbrella to wear as a hat and will be selling this device at the show next year with a 20% discount, I suspect there will be a huge demand so get there early. (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1568107026_grin.gif)

On all the money you claim to earn surely you can afford to live in a nicer area ???

Its nonsense, brag to wasters/dug addicts and alcoholics that you have a nice car and van and how long will you have a nice car and van.
-
Some folks don't want to move from the area they know, if it suits them then it suits them. Can't be that bad an area if you can park a nice car in the street though.
Vehicles are a commitment whichever way you go about getting them but I don't understand how the post has went from working in the rain to this bull sht.

It was BS from the start, we have a guy who every other thread claims to only need to work a few hours a week but cant make not working in the rain work, come on.
If somebody wants to work in the rain then its up to them, but do we need to work in the rain to make our businesses work ? well the fact that many including some successful employers on here don't answers that question.
-
My oh my hasn’t this thread got very judgey.
Can’t tell wether the usual negative posters are jealous, or just enjoying trying to be negative as usual. ???
Secretly I think some On here are jealous of Dazs bachelor life, and always try to tear him down.
Interesting reading in this forum for a pschycologist to read I’m sure. ;D

ive lived around here all my life mate......i grew up just around the corner......i know everyone and its dirt cheap to rent(£73 a week rent).my flat is my home and my tap tds is 028....no way am i moving! :D
social housing is all the same around this area......the vast majority of tenants have serious drink and drug problems......its just the way it is in 21st century england....most have never worked for many years too....
id move in with the missus but shes still got grown up kids living at home and no signs they will ever leave either!
im happy living here TBH........esp when i think of the ridiculous amount of money some people are paying private landlords to rent their properties......i feel like one of the lucky ones.....

most criminals go to nicer areas to steal cars/rob houses, not off their own doorstep........besides its easier making money selling drugs round here! ;D

so its raining again!........ ::)roll
ive got a job booked in for 9am..... ;D

No, just having a late breakfast so i don't get my follicles wet😁😁

It doesn’t rain much here in Essex, but if I did take every Rainy day off, I’d get bored.
I always feel better in myself when I’ve worked.
If I don’t work I feel sluggish and tired.
I like routine, like getting up and getting the day started, but don’t work in heavy rain.
-
Gorgeous sunny day tomorrow, can’t take the day off though because it will muck up my schedule!
My gorgeous girlfriend painter and decorator ( she’s a Millionairess) fancied a five star cod and chips down by the seaside too. She’ll have to go on her own.

Bit too windy so we finished at 1400 but that's about 2.5 - 3 hours short of our shift!
