Title: Glow plug warning, Fiat doblo multijet
Post by: lee_dewing on August 28, 2019, 10:13:13 am
Hello all.

Yesterday morning 9 am

I started up my fiat doblo multi jet van 1.3

It’s a 2014 plate registered jan 2015

On starting van the amber glow plug light was flashing

I did start up correctly
Turning ignition to electrics and waiting for the glow plug symbol
To go out

Which was a second or so as it was 25 degrees 😣

When I noticed glow plug light flashing I restarted van and it didn’t come back on

Does this mean the obvious

I need a set of new spark plugs?

Vans roughly 4 and a half years old
Nearly 56500 miles on clock

If it’s a set of new spark plugs then that’s not a major deal 🤞

£150?

Any advice please

Thanks

Glad weathers cooling down 🤒

Diesels don't have spark plugs..

I'd check your manual - maybe new glow plugs - sometimes something more serious - get it checked at a fiat dealer or a good local with a machine reader

I have same engine in my Fiorino , that’s exactly what happened to me , I ignored it as it was still starting after a few warm ups , then the colder weather came and it wouldn’t start .
I ended up doing them myself , think I paid £18 each for them , I checked them once out and only one was actually working  ;D

If you are doing them yourself just make sure that you soak them well whilst still in the engine with wd40 for a few days prior to the change , also make sure the engine is still hot as you can get it right before you take them out , if they shear it’s a possible engine strip , I saw today on the Fiat forum that even the main dealers are trying to turn this job away  :o

That's a good  move lee,I once tried to change the glow plugs in an Astra van ,many years ago,and snapped one  off when trying to remove it,
