1: Wheely Bins.
(Especially the wheels - they seem to attract the hose to jam in them).
Where I live, every has FOUR wheelie bins. Sometimes they're all queued up in front of the gate and have to be moved out of the way. If anyone from the government is reading this, then I have this to say:
THE PEOPLE OF BRITAIN DO NOT NEED ANY MORE WHEELIE BINS! PLEASE STOP!
2: Not being able to park
I've lost count of the number of times I've gone to quote a great house, and then not been able to take it on because there is just nowhere to park. This problem is getting steadily worse.
3: Being too hot.
I don't mind the cold weather, you can wrap up warm. If it's really cold, you just put more layers on. But there's not much you can do when it's too hot. It saps your energy. Thank goodness for the van's air con.
4: Dog poo in the garden (of course). No excuse for it.
5: Idiot tourists.
I do a load of holiday cottages, and 99% of the time it's plain sailing. But occassionally an idiot tourist will come out and say something moronic.
"You've missed a bit"
"oooh that's a good idea"
"does that work?"
"is that easy?"
and my favourite so far, they were sitting in the garden when I came up.
"oh we don't need window cleaning today" LOL as if it was his decision!
I said, "we're contracted by the letting agency" and he pulled a face before finally moving.

1. Weather - too hot/too cold/to windy/rain/snow stupid country doesn't know what it's doing one day to the next
2. Customers - non payers/messers/time wasters/etc
3. Getting out of bed - getting out of the door can be the hardest part of the day, I often find myself depressed on a morning but usually feel better after lunch when most of the work has been done.
4. Cleaning windows - the act itself isn't bad but it takes a toll on the body, aching, creaking, sweating, can be quite hard phsyically.
5. Summer holidays - kids everywhere, sticking their beaks up to the glass, getting in the way. People sunbathing and generally being in. Go away
-
- Dog $hit
- Customers you call to organise their next visit that say they’ll phone back but don’t.
- Dog $hit
- Crappy payers
- Dog $hit
- Customers $hit

In no particular order:
1) Getting the hose round the back without it snagging.
2) Customers not paying.
3) Rain.
4) Fogs/fox/cat mess, doesn't happen very often tho.
5) Organising the work, all those texts and people messing you around.
-
1. Car tyres
2. People who walk past and say ‘missed a bit’
3. People who say ‘that’s a long wire’ (it’s a flipping hose)
4. Dog poo.
5. Stubborn bird poo on 3rd floor windows.
-
1. Everything..............

-
1 through to 5. Customers.
Had a retired head teacher ask me while working in the rain last month, if I’d always wanted to be a window cleaner.
They think we’re thick

i dont hate anything about window cleaning really...hate is such a strong word....
1.i cant remember the last time i got dog/cat muck on my hose.
2.customers always pay in the end unless they die (or move without telling me!) ;D
3.weather doesnt bother me even if its raining,I just crack on and get my work cleaned!
4.hose gets caught on tyres and stuff buts its hardly a major stress to walk back and unsnag it.
5.the money and short hours more than makes up for the odd little hiccup, its a great low stress job IMO.

1. Customers who say "I'm about to go out, can you move your van", one minute after i've started cleaning.
2. Solar Tat
3. Peoples' gates that don't shut properly once i've opened them.
4. People who say "I didn't know you were coming today"
"I sent you a text last night"
"Oh I don't read my texts"!
5. People who say "Don't ring the door bell, it doesn't work" after i've waited 2 minutes to get paid.
6. Old people who want to tell you about their frickin lumbago!
Do you think they go to their Doctors and talk about having their windows cleaned!
Sorry that was 6.
Oh yeah and dog poo.
P.S. Poxy bird feeders that people stick on windows!
P.P.S. Those frickin annoying little yappy pommywatnit dogs that start barking the second your van turns in the street!

Some customers are just complete idiots. The worst part of the job for me is having to deal with the brain dead.
Some of the things I've had to deal with lately is beyond my tolerance, I have turned a corner with my profession and realized I can't do this forever. I have a much easier time communicating with my 2 young children than I do with some fully grown folk.
And the sun, I used to love the sun. I couldn't wait to get my shirt off and get on it when the sun was blazing, never used sun cream before.
Now when I see the sun up in the morning my heart sinks, I can feel it burning my skin through layers of factor 50 suncream.
I can't wait for winter, all the bloody insects will have died and the windows will be a damn sight easier to clean. The customers will still be brain dead though.
-
Cheery bunch aren't we? ;D
-
1..... Face aching from smiling all the time.
2...... Head aching from working out whether it's going to be three weeks holiday in Dubai or four weeks in Bali or five weeks in Cancun
3....... Burning my hand on the hot water in summer
4........ Struggling to fit in an extra week cruising the Nile
5........ Choosing the colour of my leather faced seats in my new BMW

1-5... customers.
Occasionally it's little things like hose snags and that green Gardiners stuff tangling itself up like a snake and eel orgy but mostly it's the unending drip of other people's ignorance and stupidity.
The homeowner at the kitchen window watching you wrestle with their gate whilst making themselves a jack brew.
The slight air of superiority exuding from some 'professional' customers who think because they have a big house they're better than others - the worst I've found for this are solicitors and financial advisors.
Those that know the cost of everything and value of nothing and moan about how hard their life is - on my lists it's mostly older housewife types who haven't worked for years, kids or grandkids at private schools and nearly as many holidays as Dazmond.
The wilfully deaf - they ask a question then talk over your answer with their opinion of what you should be thinking.
The freeloaders - "can you just go over the conservatory roof/fascias/inaccessible 3rd floor velux/garage door" but don't expect to pay for it. Like you'd ask a brickie to knock up an extra wall for free.
The experts - they know how you should be cleaning and sure as Hell want to tell you. You've used too much/too little water and are rotting the sills/render/paving slabs/tectonic plates. You should use a squeegee and only expect to earn £2 a house.
That said, for every numbnuts I have to deal with there's usually two or three decent people who enjoy a laugh, will brew, don't mither and so on. I like their money the best 😁
-
I’ve only been going for about 3 months but I can list what annoys me so far lol.
1) Locked gates after texting the evening before.
2) Messers who ask can they leave it until next month.
3) Customers who want to know the exact date & time you will be there every month.
4) Late payers
5) Roads that are very hard to find a parking space.
Honourable mentions below
....
Dog poop in the gardens
Customers who come and sit outside and watch you work (just feels uncomfortable)
Customers who talk down to you like they are superior
Apart from those things I’m enjoying it ;D

that well sums it up and number 5 is more so in summer.

there are a couple of little things that are "little annoyances" shall we say when window cleaning..... ;D
1.open sash windows!.....esp when your there and the customer doesnt even think to close them for you.... ::)roll
2.joe public/customers who park on your hose..... ::)roll
3.obviously dog muck (although this is not a regular problem i still need to be alert if they have a dog)
4."time waster" customers who insist on chatting to you and slowing you down EVERY MONTH.....(these are usually elderly customers whos prices are a little on the low side that you ve had for 20+ years)
5.customers who put large plants in big heavy ceramic plant pots ON LITTLE STUMPS to keep them off the ground right near their patio doors...... ::)roll
6.customers who let their ivy grow all around their windows and frames making a mess of them.......THEN cut them down and ask you to clean the ivy marks off their frames! ::)roll
7.customers who put wind chimes RIGHT next to the windows(same for plastic bird trays)
8.customers who have a broken gate for years and start piling bricks behind it to keep it shut..... ::)roll ;D

1. The ego overlay of some of the comments above - nauseating!
2. How some of you have turned into the very bosses you wanted to get away from by going self-employed
3. If the tea that customers make you tastes odd they've probably spat in it because they don't like you, and
who can blame them
-
I'm not sensing any love!

2. . How some of you have turned into the very bosses you wanted to get away from by going self-employed
Well I had a straw poll of my employee and we all voted that I'm the bestest boss I could ever have.
Admittedly I also said I'm a king size a4rs* as a boss but any more of that sort of backchat and there'll be sacking galore.
-
I don't like anything about it now. It's monotonous. I'll have stopped completely by November hopefully.
-
1. Weather (Rain/Snow/temps above 22 c and below 10 c 🤭😄
2. Customers; clutter nutters, too much toot in the garden.
Customers with potted plants littered all outside around patio doors conservatories.
3. Texting, the odd customer that makes it complicated i.e What time?
Basically having the same conversation about where payment is hidden, key to gate hidden
People that think they are your boss🤯
4. Things that break, usually rectus fittings, occasionally leaks in pole hose/hose
Jets in brush get plant life blocking
Always have a paper clip! For unblocking
5. Hose getting tangled reeling in,
Or hose getting caught on wheelie bins, car tyres
Never yank hose in anger usually a plant pot dies 😬
5.1 😀 dog poo, rarely happens now but just when you thought you were safe
Cat and 🦊 💩😳
-
1. Weather
2. Dog poo
3. Hose getting caught/tangled
4. Aches & pains (yes I'm getting old!)
5. Tripping over my "Caution trip hazard" cones
