Title: Why safety is important! (don't look if eating!)
Post by: nathankaye on June 11, 2019, 12:43:43 am
Don't say I didn't warn you!

This is why, safety and knowledge is key, if you take on additional jobs. (had to type something so I can post the pic)

That’s the bottom of a foot; what did he do, step in a bucket of the stuff?

Got to be honest, I’m calling bulls**t; don’t believe that’s real or because of hypo.

Maybe windowcleaners shouldn’t be dabbling with the type of chemicals that burn their feet off whilst pretending they are specialists?

So if he hadn't been dabbling with dangerous chemicals, in trainers, that could have been your foot?
Was he using his foot because you'd gotten your foot wet by working in the rain?

I've seen worse burns on an inappropriately adorned foot from scalding hot Toby Carvery gravy.

why there are using that stuff I do not know - idiots on so many levels

Hydrogen fluoride goes easily and quickly through the skin and into the tissues in the body. There it damages the cells and causes them to not work properly.
The seriousness of poisoning caused by hydrogen fluoride depends on the amount, route, and length of time of exposure, as well as the age and preexisting medical condition of the person exposed.
Breathing hydrogen fluoride can damage lung tissue and cause swelling and fluid accumulation in the lungs (pulmonary edema).
Skin contact with hydrogen fluoride may cause severe burns that develop after several hours and form skin ulcers.

I wouldn’t touch that stuff.

I doubt many window cleaners do.

Hypo is much much safer (though still dangerous)

My dad worked with neat hypo for years and years (technical manager at Leisure Centers with pools)

He’s had neat hypo in his eyes, skin and hair, to absolutely no ill effect (15% hypo). Washed quickly and thoroughly off it is fairly easily dealt with.

This isn’t an excuse to not be very careful with hypo, but when it’s watered down in a softwash mix, it’s pretty much harmless. If you get it on your skin neat, it needs to be Washed off quick! But you won’t end up with feet like that 😮

This stuff that’s got to this lads feet is a completely different level, and I wouldn’t touch it!

I thought it was Nathan’s hot water at work, not content with melting concrete, he’s got it so hot  it now goes through his footwear and melts his feet😆
