Title: Is this forum dying?
Post by: zesty on June 09, 2019, 09:17:16 am
The number of people posting in this section is dwindling, the number of people commenting on others posts is also dwindling.

Sometimes hours go by and no ones said a thing. 🤔

Zesty, I did ask you a question in the General Cleaning section 2 days ago - no reply as yet!  :o 8)

On a serious note, it's easy to put down the forum and those who have been around a long time.  I know it can get heated at times but lets focus on the positives.

There is a wealth of help and experience at your fingertips.  I doubt many of us would be where we are today if it wasn't for this forum.

There may be a few on here that are all take on no give of late, which is why things seem a bit slower.

Be positive.

Yes it's dying. Around 2009/10 when I first joined it was a really helpful community, now it's just bitching and slagging off, most of the decent lads who were really helpful have left or do not post anymore.

It's been said many many a times how there are more reading and viewing rather than participating and they don't participate for reasons already been posted.
It's OK saying have a thick skin and if not your not fit to run business because you need it to do so.  What a load of ollocks!  This is meant to be a forum with like minded individuals all in the same trade, all be it at different levels.

However, it does help if ones (haha even myself) are not quick to take offense, as often things are / or can be seen in jest rather than the perceived picked on syndrome

I don’t know as I’m quite new but I will say I think these forums are awesome, I’ve learnt so much on here and I also think it’s a good laugh.

they are always quieter in good weather as more are out working or with family.

but new blood is required as for many the forum has run its course and is no longer of use to them - you can only comment on the latest Gardiner brush so many times.....

people come, some end up thinking its their personal platform - can't take/see an alternative view - even when that view is expressed by most people - then leave in a huff rather than be the bigger person, take things on board or do the unthinkable and admit they got it wrong !

don't worry - Daz will be back soon to let everyone know he's had the best week ever - nothing cleans better than his hot water system and his heated seat in the van is still working  ;D
all will be right in the world again!

The only criticism I have for this forum is that it's not a closed private forum and open to all and sundry to read posts but unable to interact until you join.

You only have to look at the stats and at this time there are 28 people active at the moment and over 300 guests.

Surley to be able to benifit from this forum they should all have to become a member.  This way we might get more two way traffic coming through.

Yeah I fully agree with this. I think you should have to register to read the forums.

No, it's great for banter, information, morale-boosting. Let's face it we work in an industry that's hardly rocket science so we all need some intellectual stimulation now and then. Let's continue to  spur each other on FFS!

Yeah I suppose this forum has a reputation. The ‘other’ forum is much ‘busier’.

Without Nathan, I’d be gone, he is my source of entertainment on here.

It’s actually true, some of the stuff you come up with does actually entertain me.  😁

Especially your YouTube vids. Love the homemade shaky vids, especially the ones where your filming with one hand and trying to do some intricate thing with the other, and the camera phone is all over the place wobbling around.

It’s brilliant entertainment!

It's just re-inventing itself...

The thing is that its the same questions that are asked over and over again. There are only so many times that you can repeat the same answer.

The world is changing. Some of the now generation want instant answers and can't be bothered to do research.

This forum has made a MASSIVE difference to me over the last 10 years.....

I've got a round,,income, van and equipment that I could of only dreamt about 10 years ago....and it's mainly thanks to this forum and the people that have helped me and shared their knowledge and wisdom over the years......

When I meet some other window cleaners a lot of them haven't a clue really in regards to equipment and stuff.....

I met a guy the other week who spent £6k on a 400l cold water system from ionics with manual reel,he could of bought a grippa hot water system with a PF electric reel for that price and a 500l tank!a lot are still using heavy poles and brushes,8mm minibore hose and a tap for water control........the list goes on......

I love this forum......it might not be as busy as it once was but I still enjoy the banter and the odd nugget of good info that helps make our days that bit easier, more productive and profitable......

Really Matt?..........have you never tried a uni valve on your main pole?

I've never known a WC to go back to a tap after getting a univalve.....I've had mine for a few years,it still works as good as the day I bought it.......

Dazmond I've got a remote Fob to turn the water off, i got this with the Grippatank system i bought, i swear the only time
i use is when I'm cleaning a terraced house, going through house to access back, and vice versa.

I use both the tap and univalve (on separate poles).
The uni valve is good but because of how I work, I much prefer the tap so I'm not dragging the pole hose.  However, if I didn't work in such a manner, I would be 100% uni valve, but that's what is great about the industry at the moment, there is plenty of choice to suit individual needs

Clean It Up has 1,773,724 posts and as a few have said many answers can be found by using our simple search tool.

Our reason for opening the forum to guests 3 years ago was so organically the forum posts would appear on search engines meaning it can help more people and more people can find us as well as providing more answers and interaction.

We do love feedback, what would you like to see on Clean It Up and how could we enhance your experience?

No complaints from me. Tried a facebook site once and the language and abuse hurled about had to be seen to be believed. Other forums have identical posts from the same users as this one so pointless going on them.

No, it isn't dying.

As long as you remember that (as with most forums) the people that post the most often know the least.
