Probably a 3300 to 3500kg van catagory.

Payload would need to be around 1300 to 1500kgs.

1 litre of water weighs 1 kg, then you have the system and poles etc which would probably put you in the ford transit size as you would need 1200kg.

Don’t know if that is good or bad news?

If your looking for exact models that are easy to find.....

Renault traffic (mines a sport but doesn’t have to be)
SL29

It’s short wheel base and has a payload of 1300kg.

to me that's cutting it to fine - 1500 payload - Citroen relay ( Peugeot boxer - Fiat Ducato ) if you need a budget van then LDV Maxus

Agree. I would go with a van in the catagory of 3500kgs Gross Vehicle Mass as 3300kgs is tight.

GMV  is the maximum operating weight/mass of a vehicle as specified by the manufacturer including the vehicle's chassis, body, engine, engine fluids, fuel, accessories, driver, passengers and cargo but excluding that of any trailers.

Which Ford Transit Custom would be suitable for this size tank? short wheelbase low roof. I have a 2012 Ford Transit 330 short wheel base low roof with a 650 litre system but not sure if there is a Transit Custom equivalent to the 330?

It would need to be the Transit range above the Custom.

Just looking at the Trend, Ford still offers the van in 330 and 350 variants. In the old days we knew them as T330 and T350 but they appear to have dropped the "T".
Ford do so many model variants and all these differences affect payload.  For example, an increase in roof height will reduce payload.

I am using a Peugeot Boxer 333 swb standard roof. Its OK for 2 operators with a 650l tank, but I wish I had gone for either a MWB or the LWB in the 3500 GVW catagory. Space is always at a premium with a swb van. Granted, the back doors will be just as 'crowded' with 2 of us packing away at the same time with either van, but  having the extra length would mean I would be able to carry our gutter vac and prehaps fit a generator as well.

We are also finding in summer we consume more water than in winter so a 650 liter tank for 2 of us isn't quite big enough.

I agree, but didn’t always agree 😁

Used to have a transit connect with a 750litre tank, all the usual equipment, and often would carry pressure washer as well.

The amazing thing was, it never missed a beat, always ran well, and always coped with the weight. I suppose they can carry much more than the advertised payload for safety reasons...

Nowadays I wouldn’t take the risk, besides, it’s extremely dangerous if you had a crash with an overweight van.

Play is safe OP

You can get thw custom with upto a 1500kg payload , so with the right model you could have an 800 litre tank .
