Title: Free water con?
Post by: lee_dewing on May 24, 2019, 11:59:22 am
Just did a job in Loughton Essex.

Just before I pulled away a guy came over from Mercedes Vito

I Undid window slightly as he was pretty big!

He offered me free pure water as he’d over filled His van

I declined

His van was unwritten he’s accent
Was Irish ☘️

Which is one of my favourites

Maybe it’s me but if I’d got involved
Wondering if water would have had a charge

And would have been tap water not pure

Don’t know if anyone else was in his van

Probably me being paranoid

“So it is, so it was!”

sounds a bit dodgy to me, if he was overloaded all he had to do was drain some off, like you I too would have turned down the offer.

you know the old saying "if something sounds to good it most likely is"

Sounds like the old scam of something for nothing.

I've heard of it being done with "easy to move goods". Here's an experience from a relative of mine recently with "sets of cutlery". Here's the gist.

Big Irish fella comes up and says "Hey mate, I've got six sets of cutlery left over from my sales today you can have a set for nothing."

Relly says "For nothing? what do you mean?"

BIF: "My boss won't let me take them back unsold but I can put them down as "promotional gifts".  ???

Relly: (Has a look and says ok)

BIF "Can you just sign you've had them as a promotional gift?"

Relly "Ok" signs some form.

BIF "Look I can't really go back with nothing for them, they're top quality - can you give me a tenner?"

Relly "I thought they were free?"

BIF   "Well I've got to explain to my boss (slightly injured but insistent look) ... "

Relly "I haven't got a tenner on me."

BIF "What have you got?"

Relly "Might scrape up a fiver"

BIF "I suppose I'll have to accept that - but I'll get into trouble with my boss."

Scam done.

Probably sabatage. Bleeched water.  Or water containing a hardening chemical.

Whilst you step out your van, someone can step in, bye bye van!

Or you open you an to transfer the water and they have a good look n see if they like what they see!

Truth be told fella, you don't trust the (Modded), especially with stories like this

Or maybe he had a large job booked in which cancelled and had to drive 50 miles back to do some Fronts? Or it could be bleach I guess we'll never know now ???
