Title: Why wont my new fan jets work right??
Post by: Clear Vision on June 29, 2006, 08:17:36 pm
Hi guys,

Just bought a brand new brush fitted with fan jets and the one pictured on the right doesn't seem to work properly? It sprays too far out of the sides!

The one on the left works perfectly.

They are both exactly the same jets and are brand new!!

Any susestions?

Yes,

It's the auto brush from peter.

Do you have one?

clear I am having the same problem with the brush I am thinking of putting in 2mm jets  to try and help it along one jet fans not too bad, but  not great either but the other jet trickles out, had to stop using them yesterday was getting too much bleeding on the glass, switched to the new vikan oblong brush from cleantech and it was like night and day

guys peter has been putting smaller jets into the brushes to help when using with a backpack, but I think it is giving a reverse solution, he is going on hoilday, but is going to review it when he gets back, I think personnally the backpack and brush need the bigger jets for some reason

hope this helps jinky

Jinky,

Not sure what size of jets they are?
Just looked at the jet that was'nt working right and there was a bit of grit in the middle of it. Never saw it at first ;) Works ine now :)

Do you have an autobrush from peter???

I think the vikan fitted with the auto brush device would be better.

problem with the wikan is that you need to lift off the glass to rinse, with the salmon brush you don't.

well the salmon brushes have monofilament bristles (ie the bristle is one-piece) whereas with the vikan the bristles have been flailed (the tips of the bristles have been split to make them more feathery), so what happens is that dirt gets trapped much easier in the vikan bristles and so you need to lift the brush off the glass to rinse otherwise you may end up with spots on the glass.  with saying this I mostly use Vikan and still lift off to rinse with the salmon brushes I use, but was just saying as a lot of guys don't lift to rinse.

As you found out, that is the classic spray pattern of a blocked jet!

Easy to rectify, just unscrew the thing out of the brush, pop out the jet itself and clear out the obstruction...the obstruction usually being virtually invisible :-\

I have the Salmon brush too (from Peter, but not the auto one) and never lift of the glass to rinse.

Yup! I've gone back to salmon - and sometimes turning the jet slightly (by inserting a small screw driver and turning it a fraction) means the side spray hits the brush filaments and stays within the brush sides. (Important if you are using a long pole section with the brush on its side in a tight space downstairs and don't want overspray) I've even cut a bit of the brush filaments near the jets to get a more even spray.

tip - put a little silicon in around the nozzle to hold it in place, we used to have to adjust hem all the time, now they don't move.

Thanks for the tips guys!

I am using the salmon brush all the time now but am running into problems with it ???

When there is baked on bird s**t the salmon wont remove it as the bristles bend too much. (if that makes sense?)

Where as the vikan brush will remove most bird dirt as you can scrub harder.
